some people just cannot lower the weight very low without feeling strain on their shoulder/rotators... it is your best bet to keep it within the range of motion that is comfortable for you, unless you want to decrease the overall weight. generally speaker, ify ou lower enough so that your elbows are about or a little below 90 degrees, you are good to go.any lower, just puts strain on the smaller stabilizers that might not be able to supprt the load.

or for those who don't experience shoulder issues now, it might creep up on you later.

for my maxes, i usually hit them on my 4th or 5th set depending on whati m doing
and how low is he going? and is he using a smith or not. those are things to consider too.

i remember in high school, so many people would load up 2 plates on the smith, lower it an inch and start pumping away.

when i lower the bar to hit my chest for bench press it kills and i feel a popping in my shoulder... even when i drop the weights down. i usually bring it about 3 inches away from my chest with 195(8 reps)... i weigh 150.

i changed my form a couple months ago. now i bench ass off the bench, good arch and tight back and drive off my heals. i lower the weight down my chest and keep my elbows in abit more. i think its a real solid form. my elbows definitely go significantly beyond paralell so even with the bar an inch or 2 off my chest, its still real deep.

havent looked into creatine much, but when it was popular and first came out, they recommend it with grape or orange juice... so i am surprised you read otherwise

Grape, since dextrose is supposed to be very quick to digest, it'll cause an insulin spike and push the creatine into the muscle.
