worked out without music and had all new PR's for everything ... i guess music can kinda fuck up your concentration?

Motivated as ever now. Ran out of protein so I picked up 2x 5Lb allmax all whey chocolate (the best tasting protein I've ever had), 1MR and a mix bottle. I don't feel quite as much like a little bitch anymore, military pressed 35s on each side x 5 when my previous max was 20's (still pretty insignificant but progress is always good).

How do you guys get at your traps? So far everything I do gives me that momentary pain but they havent gotten significantly bigger/they don't stay sore for long after the workout. I usually grab the heaviest dumbbells I can find and shrug with them, then use the machine made for shrugs .. machine looks like this

I don't really feel much from this though.

EDIT:

This video makes me:fullofwin:

^^^^^ traps has a lot to do with genetics but you need to contract and hold the rep before going down. use a variation of a barbell, that machine, and dumbells... do not have a bend in your arm u will feel the burn trust

Will try, when you say barbell do you take over a squat rack/smith machine?

RRxtar 02-17-2011 03:28 PM

my gym has a 'shrug bar' thats shaped like a diamond so you stand in it and your hands are paralell at your sides like you're holding dumbells. i use that squeeze like hell at the top and hold for a second.

... that being said, deadlifts do more for my traps than shrugs do. i feel em for a day or 2 after.

L0uie69 02-17-2011 04:09 PM

i usually just grab a pair of DB's and do 5 sets of 20+

and make sure youre not doing the shrugs like your having an allergic reaction

If so, it's not strictly for shrugs. It's for deadlifting too.

jeffh 02-17-2011 08:00 PM

So if I'm gonna do a commited cut from end of feb to April you guys think it would be best to try and go back with a low carb approach or do a calorie deficit?

My goal is to be under 180 from 204 by April 6th

Skinnypup already posted alot of good info regarding cutting. Did you read them?

Sounds like you aren't that commited with your drinking and such. Alcohol is a killer in both cutting or bulking.

Also, low carb diet does not necessarily mean you are calorie deficit and you need that to lose weight. Low carb just helps in losing fat instead of just any weight. Doing HIIT along with lifting and a strict diet should do the trick.

Good luck.

hal0g0dv2 02-19-2011 10:09 PM
