Yeah that's basically it.
You can replace power cleans with Barbell rows since power cleans are more of an advanced movement.
Remember to start off with light weight, and increase all lifts by 5lbs each workout. So your squats should be increasing by 15lbs each week.
The workout should be easy in the beginning (20minutes to finish), but will get very very tough when you're close to plateau-ing.

If he's totally new to the gym and working out, I would say barbell rows are more than suitable. He'll risk injuring himself doing something as advanced as power cleans.

For the past couple of months I've been doing only incline bench and flat. Now I just started
doing decline again and it's already a lot stronger than my incline.

Due to the body's physiology, decline will pretty much always be stronger than incline. This is normal and nothing to be concerned about.

anyone workout at the oval? any insight would be nice
as well, ive never really worked out before, what machines do you use and in what routine, reps, set? im looking to work on legs, arms and core some cardio wouldnt be bad as well =) thanksss

any one know if they check id when signing up for membership? me and my sister's bf is looking to sign up under the family discount but we dont live under the same roof... and the website says we have to have the same household address

I've been to the oval, its a pretty nice and huge gym. Everytime I went, I got the whole rack of dumbbells to myself. Probably cause I went late, usually 2 hours before closing, so like 9pm. They got like 3 sections, so pick one where theres least amount of people if you dont want to workout around people. Also, the bench press and squat racks are in seperate sections from the rest of the equipment. The view is a bonus too especially when you're doing cardio, you can look down at people playing ice hockey, badminton, basketball or whatever. Not sure about the ID thing as I just did drop in.

hal0g0dv2 03-01-2011 07:20 PM

gut gym night fo me
70x6 dumbells on decline
after 2 sets of 65x6

then skwat 225x4 and 225x3
wish we had a proper power rack so im not skerred of just dying at the bottom of a set haha

then flat bench was taken by some homo so incline bb press for 135x6x2 and 145x6x2
which was killer after going hard on the db incline earlier

cant wait for more tomorrow :D

BlackV62K2 03-01-2011 10:39 PM

lol @ this one kid at my gym that honestly does biceps/tri's everyday. He would then flex and feel his own arms after each set. Guy has a huge gutter too.

Also there's this other guy I've seen for the first time @ my gym. The douche was supersetting and using 3 different machines and one squat rack. Bastard wouldn't even let me work in on one of the machines. Fuckin pissed me off.

The_Situation 03-01-2011 10:56 PM

Calves in Hams today. Didn't really feel it in my hams, but once I got home I couldn't even lift my legs to take off my socks.

just stocked up on some "muscle milk" ...in my opinion the best tasting protein out there. Theres a buy 3 for 2 sale on bodybuilding.com and i used the code "mass 10" which took another 10 % off.
(6) 2.5 lb tubs in 5 different flavors for $115 ...equals out to $19.20 per tub

DC5-S 03-01-2011 11:13 PM

also the worst for you man.. highest levels of toxic metals in all of the proteins they tested in consumer report

http://www.consumerreports.org/cro/m...rink/index.htm

SkinnyPupp 03-02-2011 01:20 AM

So much of your scoop is going to flavour, making it a tasty but really expensive protein shake. I am going to try some though, it's nice to have a 'treat' shake once in a while :)

LC21 03-02-2011 10:20 AM

apparently size matters

Anyone get lower back pain when running? I've been working for 1.5 years and haven't ran at all in that time. I tried to run some laps today but could only manage 2.5 laps because of the pain. Anyone have a similar experience?
