Originally Posted by aikenluu918 Hey guys what shoes do you wear in the gym, im look at asics, what should i look for when i shop for shoes | Hey .. I used to sell shoes.
Basically there's 3 types of feet.
People who have low arches
People who have normal Arches
People who have high arches.
Asics are great shoes, but the gel in them tends to wear out eventually (as with any shoe). Do some research and figure out what kind of arches you have. If you're looking to buy asics, there's a few basic tips:
1) If you have low arches, get these shoes: http://runningmagazine.ca/files/2009/02/02322_orig.jpg
Notice the darker part of the sole near the middle? That's called duomax. It's basically a higher density foam, to keep your ankles from rolling in too much when running/walking. If you have low arches, these are great. if you have normal/high arches, they will correct a problem that is not there, and cause your ankle to roll outwards too much, leading to knee/leg pain. Btw, a lot of companies do this. if you have low arches, any shoe with that darker higher density foam (you can feel it, it'll be harder than the rest of the shoe) is made for correction of flat feet.
2) If you have a neutral/normal arch, grab a pair of these. They're my alltime favorite: http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/...mL._AA280_.jpg
The asics gel nimbus. They're a good balance between the entry shoes and the high end shoes (ie the kayano .. which is overpriced and garbage because they'll never last cuz they have so much gel, and they're quite heavy because of the gel).
3) You can get an asics training shoe. Same thing as above, if you're neutral/high arch make sure there is no darker midpart to the sole. They're light, and pretty comfy because they have the gel in them. Also generally cheaper. For running shoes you'll pay in the ~$150 range retail, for trainers ~$100.
Basically that's asics in a nutshell, if you have more questions feel free to post. I did hours and hours of training on this shit (and then quit lol).
Btw, do yourself a favor, do not buy from sportchek, the markup is insane. Find the shoes you want, and try em on in your size, then order em online. You'll save ~50%. Or, wait until they're on "door crasher" and go pick them up. Good luck. Oh and also, I'm assuming you're mainly running. If you're gonna be doing running + working out/cross training do yourself a favor and do not buy runners. Buy training shoes. Runners only give the foot support front to back, not side to side, and they generally have a very thick heel (because of the padding for running). Basically, when you do a lot of side to side you're very likely to roll your ankle in asics running shoes ( I used to wear my asics to work b/c i was on my feet all day, rolled my ankle multiple times .. but they were so comfy).
Normally I wouldn't right all that but I feel so fucking pumped after my workout today. Shirt was literally drenched in sweat. Squatted 2 plates + 25 ... so close to my goal of 3 plates Then did some quick biceps ... feels so good

I'm going to start taking some yoga classes. My flexibility is unbelievably bad. For the arms over and under your back flexibility test, I have 8 inches apart.

nothing homo about yoga. I recently signed up and already am seeing improvement in mobility during athletic performance. http://www.t-nation.com/free_online_...r_big_bastards
also, working on extensibility stretches the H zone in your Muscle fibers which allows for greater space to Contract.

Or, youtube it/google it.

Absolutely loving my Merrel barefoot trail gloves for running and DL's. Never felt my hammies after DL's until I started where these shoes. I'm assuming you get something similar with the chucks, but now I only need one shoe for both running and lifting.

I didn't know my post would be starting the next page, so I didn't bother to quote the person. I added the quote now, to prevent confusion (I quoted before he later added the 'sarcasm' attempt at a save)
Hope this helps |

Yeah, I gave him the benefit of the doubt and assumed he was being facetious even before the *sarcasm*

dude seriously puts on the gyms belt as soon as he walks in the door, and keeps it on no matter what he is doing, i kinda think his core is actually soft like feta cheese, and he would crumble if he didnt keep the belt on at all times
he must have done 12 different curl excersises and then some close grip bench on a smith machine
