The past 2 times I took jack3d, which has helped my lifts quite a bit, I couldn't sleep till it was past 4AM, I'd be lucky if I was asleep by 3AM. I suppose it might not be worth it if I'm losing that much sleep.

When I was on 1MR I always looked forward to Saturdays for early afternoon workouts when I could take a full scoop without affectimg my sleep and go beastmode.

That would be ideal, unfortunately due to my class schedule I can only dream of an afternoon workout. I always end up working out around 6-7PM. Then falling asleep around 3-4AM, and waking up at 7:30. Great workout though, except I don't get enough rest to heal or even remotely pay attention in class.:banghead:

Leg day today, but my legs are still sore. :fuuuuu:

van_driver 03-22-2011 09:47 AM

Anyone know how long after a workout you have to take your protein shake for it to be useful?

I work out at school so it takes about 1 hour before I get home and take protein.
Is that too long? Or it doesn't matter?

Thanx

The_Situation 03-22-2011 09:51 AM

It's recommended to take it within 30 mins. Bring the protein with u. Just throw a scoop in a bottle and fill it up at the end of your workout.

Thanks, I like to take mine with milf so can't really keep the milk cold all day

I never realized how awesome 5x5 routine is. Adding 5lbs everyday to the exercises feels good.

i used to have problems downing protein shakes as well when i mixed it with water, and ending up dumping half of it down the drain, but i found that if you plug ur nose while ur drinking it, and just chug it fast, it goes down a lot easier, iuno thats just how i do it

LC21 03-22-2011 01:25 PM

haha pounding down protein is like pounding down a beer for me.

Awww yeah.

out of all the protein shakes ive had in the passed 2 years i might have had 2 with milk?

is it ok to mix glutamine into the protein shake? or take it seperate?

sonick 03-22-2011 04:52 PM

^ yes, it all ends up in the same place anyways. Plus most whey protein powders have some amount of Glutamine already as it's an amino acid.

Hondaracer 03-22-2011 05:21 PM

fuuuu just hammered Tri's, arms feel weak as hell right now lol

nice having a Sauna at home to hit up after a good workout :D

Lolkai 03-22-2011 05:53 PM

You just gotta slam it down and eventually you get used to just downing it.
I feel that 500mL of anything these days are like nothing as compared to a couple years back i would think holy shit that's half a litre!

Would be exhausted, but my mind would be racing and wouldn't get to a deep sleep before 3am or so. Felt terrible.

been there

solution for me was to not take it at all.

kinda sucks because I usually feel tired after work and it affects my workout

SkinnyPupp 03-22-2011 07:55 PM

Anyone here do hand walkouts? They are brutal on your core and shoulders

I can now do them from my toes, about 5 or 6 reps at a time.

Try them!

hotong 03-22-2011 07:56 PM

try something not as strong... like amino energy from ON

Volvo-brickster 03-22-2011 08:59 PM

decent day today

nothing hotter than seeing a hot blonde deadlifting 135lbs with perfect form :D

Agreed, increased on my squats, bench, and rows today. Feeling good, unfortunately the weights I do aren't even 1/4 of what the rest of you do! :whine:

BTW. You guys think the odd ball who does his curls in the squat rack is annoying... I was waiting for a good 10-15 minutes for a guy who laid a mat down in the squat rack and did abs.
