RRxtar 11-28-2011 09:43 PM

sushi makes me mad. every time i go im like "sweet I just spent $35 and got 0 protein, im still hungry, and I coulda got a steak and veggies from cactus for less money"

but its so fucking good and i end up going once a week in the summer anyway

SkinnyPupp 11-28-2011 09:54 PM

How do you get 0 protein with all that fish?

God I love sushi. Can't find ever eat it though, because anything reasonably priced here is inedible.

WTF do you order? Raw fish has tons of protein in it.
I've got this sushi hookup nearby. I get assorted sashimi; 7 pieces: 2 salmon, 2 tuna, ebi, eel, tako (octopus) + salmon roll + tuna roll for $15. I get this at least once a week.

From what i'm reading online each peice of sashimi is roughly 40 calories, with 5-8 grams of protein each piece. And i'm getting huge pieces (like massive). Once you become a regular you get hooked up!!

XplicitLuder 11-28-2011 10:06 PM

i can't get enough of chicken teriyaki rolls :megusta:

hal0g0dv2 11-28-2011 10:10 PM

50 bucks later at sushi places and still hungry.
Mc dicks ftw, 5 bacon cheese and loose 4 buns = great meal

jeffh 11-28-2011 10:11 PM

i think hes trying to say, for the amount invested there is a relatively small amount of protein

AAnthony 11-28-2011 10:14 PM

I remember him talking about this on Leno. Jeremy Piven (entourage) got mercury poisoning from eating too much sushi.

Quote:

After a battery of tests failed to reveal what was ailing the three-time Emmy winner, Colker checked his "heavy metals" and was "absolutely stunned" to find mercury at a level "almost six times the upper limit of normal and allowable," says the doctor. "It's the highest level I've ever seen."

Colker attributes the high mercury count to Piven's habit of eating sushi, often twice a day, compounded by certain Chinese herbs he was taking "for general health." Piven was ordered to put a moratorium on the fish and the herbs, and his doctor sent a letter on Dec. 10 revealing the health problem to the Speed-the-Plow production staff.

I was eating sushi 4 days a week in the summer & drinking musclemilk. still here :megusta:

Next time halo, just get a regular patty with bacon + cheese. I think it'll be cheaper.

A qtr pounder patty is 1.12 with tax.

A Regular Patty is .56 with tax.

Quick and cheap meal if I just want to get some protein in.

RRxtar 11-28-2011 10:26 PM

i dont eat sashimi.

heres some common sushi's nutrition:

California Roll - Serving Size: 8 pieces, Calories: 330, Fat: 7g, Carbs: 38g, Protein: 9g
Salmon & Avocado Roll - Serving Size: 6 pieces, Calories: 304, Fat: 8.7g, Carbs: 42g, Protein: 13g
Salmon Roll - Serving Size: 8 pieces, Calories: 240, Fat: 9g, Carbs: 40g, Protein: 15g
Spicy Crunchy Tuna Roll - Serving Size: 1 roll, Calories: 360, Fat: 10g, Carbs: 32g, Protein: 6g

so 4 rolls you're getting maybe 40g protein, 1300 calories, and 150g carbs. i dont care what diet you're on thats fucked up macros

vs. a 12oz peppercorn steak from Cactus club good for like 75g protein or more. and way more satisfying. not to mention all the other nutrients in steak.

jeffh 11-28-2011 10:28 PM

but no miso soup :megusta:

Yeah rolls are horrible. Normally they are used sparingly. IIRC you usually get 1 roll with a standard sushi set Japanese. Try working out the macros of a similar meal using only nigiri, which tastes better anyway, and you can easily discard some or most of the rice.

90% of white people (at least outside of vancouver) only eat Maki rolls. I am too much of a whiteman to venture too far into nigiri or sashimi :alone:

xilley 11-28-2011 11:47 PM

Shit too bad, you don't know what you're missing. Although I don't know if there are even decent places out that way.

Berzerker 11-29-2011 08:05 AM

Whenever I go AYCE I always stock up on the Sashimi first and then use the rolls and other tasty things for filler. Pretty sure when I go to Tan Po Po (unlimited Sashimi) I eat several hundred dollars worth of fish (if you price it out by the menu pricing)

Had a pretty good chest day yesterday. My upper chest is finally catching up. Still only pushing 102lbs for DB's on flat bench but my incline is up to 85's for a working set of 5 and 90's for 3. Pretty stoked with that as my incline has always lagged behind. I'm not seeing ANY growth in my shoulders and I really can't figure out why. I'm switching things up, lifting pretty damn heavy but struggling to put on size there. Seated Military press I'm pushing 155lbs for working sets of 6-8. I do leaning side raises, cable rear delts, and overhead press as well. I usually finish off my shoulders with machine presses until failure. Over training maybe?

Berz out.

Reg burger and add bacon? Halo you get Quarter Pounders with bacon/cheese?

LC21: Liquid chalk was $5.75 and the no name chalk bag was $3.60 (refillable). Sounds like I may have to go back and get the chalk bag.
