FUCK i was doing squats and i don't know what happened but now i've got this striking pain in my shoulder and elbow, feels like someone is stabbing them

strykn 01-23-2012 10:10 AM

^ pinched nerve in ur trap... happened to me but i got that pain in my rib

Excelsis 01-23-2012 10:32 AM

iunno it seems like it's actually my rotator cuff

i did rear delt and rotar cuff exercises for a good 30 minutes after squats, rubbed the area with the capsaicin cream and i feel better, i've still got a long way to go to learn my body and learn to heal it more effectively

kevin7352 01-23-2012 11:32 AM

had solid 7 hour sleep, and solid breakfast.
225lb squat 3x5
225lb deadlift 1x5, 1x2
315lb rackpull 1x5 , 1x1
:megusta:
i focused on pulling shoulders back and hip thrust
110lb bench 3x5 :okay:

Strykn taught me that if you can rack pull it you can probably deadlift it :megusta: just saying.

jim whats the warm up process at meets like? how do you get to warm up?

There is a backstage area with equipment to warmup with. Barbell, plates, squat stands, bench. Usually the comp in divided into two lists (say 12ppl each) so when the first 12 people are on stage, the next 12 are in the back warming up.

Berzerker 01-23-2012 12:10 PM

First time to the gym today in a week. Last week was -40 for most of the week and my vehicle just didn't want to work so I had to walk to work. Was to cold to be carrying my gym bag and then walking to the gym at lunch so I took the week off. Attacked the weights with a vengeance today though. There was another guy in the gym doing almost the same workout as me (Back and Bi) and he is in decent shape but I crushed him on every exercise. It was a mental game I was playing with myself seeing how bad I could decimate his ego. :lawl:

Berz out.

just wondering are your squats ATG? I was doing 225 squat 3x5 but I wasn't going as low as I feel I should so I dropped it to 180 ATG. But now it just feels that it takes a long time for me to build back up to 225.

Excelsis 01-23-2012 01:03 PM

don't worry about how long it takes, atg is way better than parallel

would you rather live with knee pain and squat more or squat a bit less and no pain?

When I told you how much I rack pull for reps you said I could probably pull it ... and I did :ahwow:

supershopper 01-23-2012 02:58 PM

well i need to get some lifting gloves... deadlift today, went like this:
warmup - 8 reps of 145
1st set - 8 reps of 165
2nd set - 8 reps of 175
3rd set - 6 reps of 185
4th set - 5 reps of 195
5th set - failure at 205 (FUUUUUUUUU)

Only reason I went to failure was cause the bar kept slipping down onton my fingertips during the lift, so I would have to stop every 2 or 3 reps, for all the god damn sets. FUUU

Excelsis 01-23-2012 03:01 PM

lifting gloves suck

use an alternative grip or hook grip, you'll find hook grip will hurt in the beginning but overtime it gets better

use chalk if you can as well
