This one when I was at 155 lb

Looking good. Any before pictures? Before pictures always motivate other people, including myself!

Without meaning to come across as pretentious I'm liking the looks I've been getting during my arm workouts the last couple weeks. Especially doing seated overhead tricep extensions with the DB. I managed to get the 110lb'er up for 5 reps today and noticed quite a few people had stopped their sets to watch, like noone believed I was going to do it. Couple :ahwow: faces in the mirror as I repped it out!!

I was 198lbs on the scale today, here are my 1RM's. I've got long ass legs so squats are a huge range of motion, and I never do flat bench, always dumbbells. So those two are pretty weak :( But no excuses: the work continues.

Bench: 210
Squat: 240
Dead: 345

you guys ever bump into someone who hasn't seen you in so long (old highschool crush, ex, etc). I love it when they do the double look. You see them coming up to you and they go, OMG, you look so good, i can barely recognize you. And you're all like...yeah just been workin out  and the next thing that comes oudda their mouth is "no really you look so good". And you just say thanks and walk away but secretly inside you're like :fuckyea:

if you can't add 2.5lbs for a rep or two you're doing something wrong man.

How long has your bench been stuck?

Don't waste your time warming up for your PR and don't get obsessed with your PR. Most guys only go for PR's once or twice a month .. I know strength training has made you think differently about working out, but lifting 80% of your max for more reps every week will make your PR increase, plus you have less likelihood of dying doing that. Going to failure every workout is hard on the body.

Widegrip Pendelay rows on bench day and back day, kroc rows on back day/floor press on leg day is what worked for me. It took me over a year to bench 135 lol. My deadlift was stuck for the longest time, I backed off and started doing higher reps and not going to failure.

Btw dude, I don't think your eating enough to recover from 5x5 ... 5x5 strains your body .. start eating everything and anything in sight lol

Excelsis 02-04-2012 12:53 PM

yeah you basically have to eat the entire day like a cow, i'm getting around ~6000 calories a day, go figure

hal0g0dv2 02-04-2012 12:58 PM

YAHHHH
back day

Periodization if you've hit a plateau.

Good luck.

you're close to maxing out the DBs dude!

Man today some stupid douchebag drug dealer guy was fucking up my shit. I was doing some upright rows and lateral raises. Nobody else was around the area, but he insists on standing directly in front of me in the middle of my lateral raise set :seriously:. So next set I side step over and he does the fucking same thing :rukidding:. Greatest part of it was that he was doing upright rows with heavy weights, but barely even going past half way and front raises with a plate of 45lbs, but looked like he was curling them.

RRxtar 02-04-2012 01:34 PM

Phil Heath: When they ask me that, I ask, Why dude, you think I need to? I think that’s just common ignorance. Usually, people that do that are insecure already so they think that’s the only way I got like that. And what people have to focus on is, ‘What is he doing to get himself like that?’ They don’t wanna ask. If it was that easy, everybody would be good. So it has to be more than that. And we’ve all see multiple athletes. Are you seriously gonna discount that I get up at 4:30 every morning and go do 45 minutes of cardio. They don’t realize I eat seven or eight times a day of healthy food. Most people couldn’t tell me the macros that are in every meal they take throughout the day. Because the average person doesn’t do it. They’re not gonna know how healthy fats work and guess what? I get paid to do this. Has anyone ever known someone that could just look at a weight and grow? No. Sure, I’m genetically gifted, but what if someone genetically gifted like me, took that talent and became educated about nutrition and given the money and resources to do it? You’d look like me too. My job is to weight lift. I train with best equipment. I get more treatment on my body than the average football player. Acupuncture four days a week, massage one to two days a week, I get chiropractic work, I get decompression people don’t even know what the hell that is, which is elongating the spinal cord and vertebrae. They don’t educate themselves on the process. I have an infrared sauna at my house to eliminate toxins and hyperbaric chamber in my house. Just all the things I mentioned. I have a chicken sponsor and an egg white sponsor. I’m getting the best food. I have the black man’s dream: free chicken!
