Anyways, haven't done deadlifts in about 3 weeks. Been skipping workouts here and there due to school which sucks; only went twice last week. Fortunately, all my university applications are completed (accepted into SFU :D), and a two-week spring break will allow me to rip shit up in the gym. :fuckyea:

For those who currently attend SFU, how's the gym there? Excited to be able to train during school in the Fall.

Its really packed, thats all i can say. Youre better off going to a different gym.

Avoid SFU gym like the plague! :heckno:

I always wanted to workout at a uni gym. You can meet a bunch of guys that even lift and make some gym partners.

Thought I bought invisible chaulk from MEC. Put a tiny bit in my hand prior to Dl's, and thought to myself "this is weird". I try and work the good stuff in, and my hands are only getting more and more soft a supple. Look at the ingredients, it's fucking moisturizer. FML! Ugh Damn MEC's shelf labelled "Invisible Chalk" meanwhile the product is called hand jam. Thought it was weird but bought it anyway.

But other then that had a great workout.
Even with slippery hands somehow managed 275 x 8 with an overhand grip. This is the longest i've even been able to hold on the bar without mixing my grip. No PR for DL but I was pumped I was still hanging on!

Also started a 5x5 type thing for my lacking upper chest.
5 x 5 x 170 Incline bench. 5lbs a week i'm going for. Shouldn't be an issue for the next few weeks.

How are the 4-plate DL challengers doing? I'm at 365x1 right now but have converted to straps. Planning to try 405x1 next week, and if sucessful I will try for reps the following.

how ?

red_sir 03-12-2012 07:29 PM

405x6 tonight.

Lower back felt BULLETPROOF. Feels awesome to start progressing again instead of rehabbing.
Grip was a bit of a limiting factor but I probably won't go back to straps. Straps make me feel overconfident; I rather my grip give out before something else does. Time for more plate pinches and fat gripz pull ups.

Btw, anyone else get butterflies in their stomach on deadlift day? :\

Curious if anyone has their own home gym?

I currently have the Power Blocks up to 90lbs. Was thinking about picking up a cage, bar and some plates.

Check amazon.com they got some really good deals on power racks. Ship to point roberts, get a buddy with a van or SUV and go pick it up. Don't know how hardcore of a rack you want but they got some decent ones at around the ~$300-$400 price point.

Damn $1500 for a rack? I was budgeting that much for my entire setup -- albeit the rack I was going to get wasn't that nice.

red_sir 03-12-2012 09:42 PM

Having your own weights is nice, but I wouldn't give up my gym membership for it. Working out at home gets boring fast.

neggo 03-12-2012 10:36 PM

^ True.

Although each gym has its own group of jackasses, I probably wouldn't have the same type of motivation if I just worked out at home. Any time I see other people working their asses off, it pushes me to work.

kevin7352 03-12-2012 10:38 PM

and there's no cardio bunnies to check out when your lift at home

maxxxboost 03-12-2012 10:44 PM

Did legs today. Felt good

DL 315x4 times(reset after 2) and 295x10

maxxxboost 03-12-2012 10:49 PM

I think working at home is a good alternative, but i wouldn't use it as my main source of workout/exercise. Would this be your main source of working out?

In my opinion, going to the gym gets me pumped and motivated, seeing everyone there working out and exercising because they all have some sort of goal, weather it be to get big or loosing weight, there is an atmosphere that one cannot get at home.

I totally agree, the gym vibe pushes me to lift harder and I enjoy it more.

Jordanl250 03-12-2012 11:34 PM

Double bw bench achieved. I Know the spotter had his hands on the bar, I asked him for a lift off and he kept his hands on. I have a slight sticking point where the bar slows in the middle too. Also I know the arch is kinda ridiculous but it saves my shoulders. height 6'0'' reach 76''

SkinnyPupp 03-13-2012 12:00 AM

First workout back was pretty good. Didn't lose much strength at all, so now I can work on the weight I gained in Japan

^ Damn good job Jordan.

Side note, over eager spotters are annoying (I'm an ungrateful prick lol).

Jordanl250 03-13-2012 12:09 AM

To the haters who are going to say to keep my ass on the bench and that the spotter did all the work. I'll make a new video in the future just for you with a better spotter. :accepted:

red kryptonite 03-13-2012 01:15 AM

good stuff jordan
