^how can your glutes get sore from doing bench press? Unless you were doing hip thrust... but still...

wasnt really thrusting just squeezing really tight.. christian thibodeau makes it a point to teach this in his programs not sure why but i followed suit and i honestly felt a bit stronger. maybe not stronger but more in control of the weight.. its weird. it was also a combo of the other exercises today but squeezing just made it more intense

Alright, finally school is all done and besides my ridiculous life and work I can focus on training now So here's my RS fitness intro:

I've been hitting the gym for fun, I guess, off and on for the last little while. I started to get somewhat serious about training a couple months back then fell into the studying/comfort zone with the gf thing and that all went to shit.

This is me currently sitting at 5'6" and 169lbs. I've recently been accepted to go to Japan this fall for school at Kansai Gaidai University so my goal is to be in the best shape I can be in before I leave and change my shit diet into something healthy and regular. My plan is to stick with strong lifts 5x5 with 2 days alternating HIIT jogging/running and moderate cardio like elliptical or 30-45min jogs. As of a couple months ago I was at:
Squats 180 (PR 225 1x5)
Bench 125
Rows 100
Overheads 70
DL 195

I'm hoping to be caught up again where I left off, in a couple weeks at the latest, and go strong for the rest of the summer. This thread always makes me pumped and wanna hit the gym hard and I'll actually be able to now.

Ballsy move putting up before pics with no after. BTW your diet will go back to shit in Japan sorry to spoil it for ya

IMO you should never mind all that faggy cardio and go on a straight weight gain plan. Put some muscle on that frame and you won't have to worry about the fat. Keep at it when you go to Japan. A gain diet will be a lot easier there than a loss diet.

achievement unlocked for squat, will be hitting 3 plates on squat before end of this month Repped out 2plates + a 35 no problemo, didn't go for failure because I honestly don't know how to bail if I can't rep out the weight 295 felt quite easy though.

Stalled on weight loss though, kinda depressed because I look like chit still. win some you lose some

^ yeah i get that when i raise the weight, and everyone says you can do more with low-bar.

anyways its been 9 months, seems like my progress is pretty shitty for 9 months haha
weights been jumping up and down. i kept resetting the weight back down for form. a lot of trial and error, but here are my gains atm :
hopefully i'll get all the form down for all my exercises and start having major gains after 1 year

114lbs sept 1:
benchpress 65 (struggled with it too)
squat 95
deadlift 115
2/3 pullups, could only do 1 set

137-140lbs depending what i ate during the day may 1
benchpress 130
squat 205 (probably gonna drop this again for like the 4th time for low-bars)
deadlift 235 (was at 270, but realized i was doing romanians instead of the tradional deadlift, so i dropped it. also i am now only using double overhand)
10 15lb weighted pullups on the first set, 5/6 on the 2nd and 3rd

Started with high bar and switched to low bar squats a few months ago. Feels a lot better and less strain on my back.

I'm in trouble, Bench is catching up to my squat

Flat Bench 225 x 4!
Incline 205 x 5

Squat 245 x 8...

Time to crank it up a notch all around! So pumped about my chest progress!

first day trying Christian Thibaudeau's star complexes.
they are excellent. I'm wondering if deadlift complex alone is enough to hit the back muscles - the program doesn't have a back-specific complex

Anybody have leg pain at night? Last few nights I been noticing a trend where I'll wake up due to this uncomfortable pain, not really 10/10 pain, but anyone that's had an ear-ache would understand that the mildest pain can cause you to go crazy.

Basically it feels like my legs are super super sore, and I toss and turn till I have enough and get up to walk it off. I had to pop a painkiller last night ...

Haven't hurt myself at the gym, just doing more cardio. But I don't think its workout related. Can these be shin splints?

I just tried, and no they don't. Its more like a constant rush of pain, including my knee cap and back of my leg too. Maybe its not shin splints then

lol, One night, I was just lying on my bed and decided to stretch my body outwards and my legs cramped up so bad and I couldn't move.

Maybe it's not the same as to what you're feeling, but it sucks.
