Started last November, but I did lift for a about year, a few years ago in my rec center gym |
SC yesterday was great....went later in the evening....some asian chick there doing full leg press at 3 plates...good god...:ahwow: ---- And way to many skinny guys wearing wife beaters; ~130lbs grunting loud as fuck...:suspicious: |
I've been lifting on and off since grade 11. Get big, get hurt (physically or emotionally) and quit gym and shrink down to nothing. I've been "big" a few times (all times were on juice) but I think this is the strongest I've ever been now and natty too! As it stands now I can't see an end in site to working out. Barring physical injury that is.... Berz out. |

Started lifting about 2.5 yrs ago.. at age 30. hud91: I tried hack squats as well for the first time last week. Feels like reverse deadlift with major focus on the hamstrings. I am starting light until I can figure out my max. Hurry up 4pm so I can hit the gym |

TALK ABOUT AWKWARD! Tried 'em out today with a plate a side. Man that feels weird. Do you guys start right from the ground? The bar was all over the place sliding up and down my legs. I sure feel it on my tears drops though, weird because it's seems like it is more of a hammy exercise. Maybe my quads are underdeveloped. |
Wut the. Hack squats do seem like a reverse dead lift to me. I get the burn in the quads/tear drops....I don't feel anything in the hammy's though so you might be doing it wrong or have underdeveloped hammys. I started working about on/off (mostly off) for about 2 years. This last stint has lasted about 3-4 months and I've never been stronger or bigger before, w00t. |
Hack Squats/Reverse Deads hit dat der teardrop real good. Especially if you go slow on the way down. Berz out. |
Looks like lots of leg muscles are worked. Feels good. I lift it off the ground and I keep it close to my legs. "The hack squat focuses primarily on the legs, specifically the quadriceps. It also works your adductors, or muscles of your inner thigh; your soleus, one of the two muscles in your calf; and the gluteus maximus, the main muscle in your bottom. Your hamstrings, the muscles that run up the back of your thigh, as well as your gastrocnemius, the other muscle in your calf, provide support and stabilize you through the movement." |
Am I the only one who feels it in my lat dorsi when doing hack squats? |
Maybe your "shrugging" the weight when you lift it rather than letting it rest in your hands? Berz out. |
1.5 yrs ago |
on and off since 19, but just recently i've started to do squats, deads, etc. |

Just like deads. I slowly drop them to the ground, full stop, and then I reposition myself and complete the exercise again. |

Exactly one year ago, never worked out before |
I always feel my lats on deadlift and somewhat do on hacksquats. It'd be a funny variation to hack squat-shrugs .. just lifting the weight already strains the crap out of my traps. |
I started training at 16 and made decent progress till an injury at 21, took three years to achieve partial recovery from the injury and lost all my gains because I was laid up so long, so now I'm 24 and have been back lifting for 8-9 months but I still need to stick to pretty light work outs. Feels good to stretch out the muscles and keep everything moving even though I won't be making big gains. |
didn't start working out until January of 2011 when I was 15, and boy I'm so glad I did haven't made any serious gains (in terms of weight), but everything's shaped up real nicely & I've been receiving a lot more compliments :sweetjesus: gym is life |
started about..feb of..2011 , first 2-3months was more cycling to lose weight for our coming grad trip to dominican..then after that i started the training aspect of it. Nothing serious tho..made gains..but never followed any strict diet so i never achieved the body i wanted or lose the weight i wanted. Still currently in that mindset..which really sucks but i hope one day soon itll all just click and i give it 100% |
