I workout 3-4x a week, lift heavy, and have been for almost 3 years. I eat as many clean sources of protein as I can. However, does the whole working-out aspect allow me a sort of "free pass" to eat whatever else I want? EG: ice cream, church's chicken, BK, junk food, etc.

I've been kind of assuming (possibly wrong) that so long as I put in the work at the gym, I can afford "luxuries" like having relative freedom of eating what I want, on top of eating the regular clean foods like chicken breast, ground beef, pasta, spinach, and so on.

I would classify myself as an ectomorph. It's easy for me to lose weight, and harder for me to gain weight. I'm not trolling. I've been wondering about this for a while but didn't know how to ask.

Yeah thats like me as well. Before i started to work out i was quite skinny and i had a pretty low body fat percentage. Then one summer I decided to bulk up eating everything in my path and working out here and there. I actually looked quite built, so pretty much if your body can afford to eat lots of bad shit and still look good without the flabs of fat i say do it.

Rate please, stuck at 155 lbs for a few months now, 6'1, 10% bodyfat

thegentleman 06-17-2012 07:37 PM

My chiropractor told me he's strongly against squats & deadlifts.

Guess what I'll be doing at the gym tomorrow....:ilied:

nns 06-17-2012 07:39 PM

^Barbell shoulder press @ guddagudd.

Yea, back when in the beginning when I started, I was around 135 lbs, 5'11". LOL just typing "135 lbs" is funny. I still remember asking about weightgainer shakes in this forum.

Fastforward almost 3 years, I'm around 168 lbs. Eat 4x a day. Only eat out for lunch when I'm at work and I don't bring anything.

yellowpower, what do you weigh now and how tall are you? I would say I eat about 3/4 clean, and 1/4 junk food. I don't look like a wreck. I don't have a defined 6 pack, just a 4 pack. Chiseled isn't the look I want, I'm more about having mass. Shane Carwin a few years ago comes to mind.

So my shoulders are lacking? Got it, what about my chest? I find that's my weakest point, looks-wise. And to answer your question about eating whatever you want, I think it's fine, as long as you work out, because all those extra cals you're consuming gets you bigger, but relating to your heart, it may be hazardous as the food you eat, if they contain a lot of trans fat, that's not good x.x

SkinnyPupp 06-17-2012 07:44 PM

Everything is lacking (except biceps? lawl). Do Starting Strength and eat 4000 calories a day.

Go read this: http://www.revscene.net/forums/66922...beginners.html

This.
Traps and biceps seem to have had a jumpstart

guddagudd 06-17-2012 07:52 PM

Thanks for being straight-up, I much rather have someone say that, instead of fake people at the gym saying "you're getting bigger bro"

SkinnyPupp 06-17-2012 07:53 PM

Yup nothing is helpful about BSing you. Ask Halo what he did when I said he looked like an ethiopian several years ago :accepted:

nns 06-17-2012 07:54 PM

What and how much are you eating? Consider GOMAD if you're not lactose intolerant.

I eat 2k cals a day, I'll be honest, I wasn't putting effort into getting my cals because I've gotten lazy these few months, and going to the gym was just going through the motions for me.

You look like you can really explode out though... Read skinny's article and go for starting strength... then you can start getting into hypertrophy if that's what you're into...

with a few years of lifting, i could see you getting to 190 or 200

guddagudd 06-17-2012 08:08 PM

^hey thanks man, means a lot, I want to get to maybe 175 and stay there, I'm not looking to be the next jay cutler or anything, just a small town hollister model size

nns 06-17-2012 08:46 PM

Hey Jordan, it's cool if you want to fail me. Could you atleast do me the courtesy of explaining yourself though?

SkinnyPupp 06-17-2012 08:55 PM

Shane Carwin probably weighs 290 lbs in that photo lol, and he's jacked to the gills

"I don't want to get too big.. just 290 lbs. 300 would be excessive"

yes and more yes
yeah, towards the end of my bulk i was honestly eating 8000-9000 calories a day, fucked up YES was it worth it YES never again tho

nns 06-17-2012 09:05 PM

Skinnypupp, 290 lbs, I never knew.

I looked up his current weight after I attached his picture in my post earlier, and I was already surprised to see he weighs around 250 lbs. I hope you guys didn't misunderstand me and think that I want to look exactly like him and weight 250 lbs though. I just think his look in that picture is something I lean towards. It's like a mix of inspiration and awe.

eat a ton of food, eating 2000 calories will do nothing, if your are looking to pack some size on you must eat like 4000 calories, going to be harsh everything is lacking from most peoples point of view

dont let these fuck tards bro fist you and say you are jacked cause there parents saw you in a t-shirt, i still think i am small and i dwarf most humans

edit: and skinny telling me i looked like a Ethiopian child helped

SkinnyPupp 06-17-2012 09:10 PM

Had a cheat meal for the first time in many months last night... a real cheat meal - 3/4 of a pizza.

Felt great last night, but now I feel like shit :lawl:

These are the times where a PWO can really help. I am dragging ass today, but I know I am going to kill it still. This is week 4, which means all the weights will be at their peak, then I deload next week, and start another 4 weeks of different lifts.
