Berz do you do standing military press as well? Never tried it seated and just wondering what the difference is. There are regulars at my gym who do seated military press on the smith a lot.

Also did squat 285lbs 3x5 yesterday @ 175 lb bw. Legs are destroyed. :woot2:

I do heavy Squats and Heavy Deadlifts so my lower back takes a beating on more than 1 day a week so doing standing overhead presses doesn't give my back hardly any rest days at all so I don't really like doing them. I do standing presses on weeks when I don't deadlift but the weight is only 1 plate and I go for reps rather than weight. The bar I use for seated has a U bend in the middle too allowing me to bring my arms directly beside my head instead of having to go in front of my face as I find that puts odd stress on my shoulders.

Berz out.

Tried a 315lb Deadlift max reps today. Button on my shorts popped at 7 reps and my pants were falling down so I had to stop at 8. I'll post the vid when I get home.

Looking for some technical deadlift reading material/videos.
Any links that you guys think actually helped in increasing the weight and form would be much appreciated.
I got a lower back injury so I always just drop the weight if i start breaking form and need the belt when I start nearing my limit.
Finally did 3 plates for 1 rep yesterday but the second attempt I just couldn't budge it. Didn't arch my back much at all though.

Another question, which combination of exercises would best replicate the effects of deads without the lower back risk?
thanks

I think you need to start working out in shorts that don't have buttons.

Check out Mark Bell's powerlifting channel. There isn't one video that will teach you everything, but if you take the time to watch enough of the videos you're gonna pick up a lot of good stuff here and there.

You simply can't lift with good form without sufficient mobility.

I dont get how you guys are always ripping your boxers and shorts while squatting. I've never had a problem with my short shorts. Are you wearing boxers that are 2 sizes too small?

well no, i buy boxers that fit me... and then I grow and get bigger, and proceed with the squats. And then all of a sudden it no longer fits me.
