it was just a one time thing; I usually look at the mirror when I squat, but this time I looked skywards... woops
It's really just my first time, I think my form isn't bad. Maybe it's just one of those days where you're not as focussed.. lol
It happens ... a couple weeks ago I was squatting and thought to myself "oh fuck im not gonna be able to get back up" so instead of falling I let go of the bar and pushed up off the crash bars and re-racked it lol I call it the dip-squat
Anyways, shortly thereafter psyched myself up and repped the same weight that almost crushed me.
Don't doubt yourself! Fear can make you do dumb things
Also, who in here uses straps or hooks for deadlifts and whatnot? I've read good things about hooks..
Ironmind makes a cool product called eagle loops if you want to train your fingers individually. Brooks Kubik talks about them a lot in Dinosaur Training. But if you really want to train your grip, the best thing would be a thicker bar.
just make sure you don't take part in their workouts

Haha. If I did join a crossfit gym it would only be for a few months since there is no way I would pay 12 months out of a year for it. I'm sure there are some shitty crossfit trainers out there, but I know one guy who knows his stuff pretty well. This one gym that I've been looking at offers powerlifting classes and also I always wanted to learn Olympic lifts. I would probably benefit from some criticism as well since I've been training alone by myself for the past 5 years.
Still on the fence about it though. Might just quit my gym all together and build my own in the garage.
My community gym was open just 6hrs so all the regulars were there squeezing in a work out.
There are 3 powerlifters at my gym with one who looks to be in his mid 40s squatting 4 plates plus a 25 on each side. Another guy who looks to be in his 70s squatting 2 plates. Not bad! Posted via RS Mobile
Recorded some sqwats from tonight to check depth. Not pretty to look at, kind of a bastard style using a low bar position with a narrow stance. But since I like it when other people post vids, thought I would share one too.

Everytime you post up a vid, i feel like a weakling... Nice squat man...
Just saw the deadlift vid too and noticed how shitty my vid taking skills were lol. At least i was able to get a clear view of you stiff legged deadlifting 4 plates like a beast Posted via RS Mobile
And everytime I see you I feel like I need to go on a diet!
Btw, I wasn't trying to do stiff legged deadlifts that day. Probably just looks like that cause of bad technique lol.
