Getting ready to go to the gym today, middle of week 2. I am also in the middle of a cold, but actually I don't feel as bad as I did yesterday. Definitely not coughing as much.

it's not that hard to clean bulk. just be eating big meals at least every 2 hours of protein, veggies and fats.

whole eggs, oatmeal, fowl, fish, beef, pork, nuts(lotsa nuts throughout the day will give you a lot of energy and plenty of good calories), legumes, dairy, fruit, veggies, yams, sweet potatos.

also do higher intensity and lower volume in your workouts. i also hope you're not doing excessive aerobic exercise.

try that for 1 month.

if you're still a pussy that can't eat much. try this 1000 calorie shake.

1 cup of milk ~150 calories
1 scoop of whey protein ~150 calories
1 cup of rolled oats ~ 300 calories
1 large banana ~150 calories
3 tablespoons of peanut butter(almond butter, whatever you want as long as the only ingredients are nuts and salt) ~ 300 calories

blend it all and add ice cubes until it's thin enough to your liking. if you have some virgin coconut oil, throw some in there too. 120 extra calories in each tablespoon.

way better than any weight gainer garbage.

if you're really really lazy, buy a jug of extra virgin olive oil and virgin coconut oil and eat that and drink that throughout the day. 300 calories in a shot glass full of olive oil.

honestly, i would do the whole food approach because you get your stomach used to eating more food.

Are you doing a carb up every so often? Eat a ton of carbs for like 2 days... You will put on some weight but within a couple days you will drop it plus some..

Eat less carbs

When I am going low carb, like under 100g a day, I almost never burp or fart. Shitting is a lot easier too

the easiest way to figure it out is an elimination diet. eat nothing but veggies and meat.

it's called the "green faces" diet.

1) If it's a green vegetable, you can eat it.

2) If it had a face, or would've grown up to have a face, you can eat it.

3) If it's not green and didn't have a face, don't eat it.

Quote:
We eliminate all potential or common allergens such as wheat and dairy, and then it's like Dr. Bryan Walsh has said, symptoms you didn't even know you had will disappear. People will often drop several pounds of "bloat" when they're on this plan; not just because of the low carbs, but also because of food sensitivities they weren't aware they had."

Food sensitivities, intolerances, and allergies are commonly undiagnosed and can cause a host of subtle symptoms, ranging from inefficient nutrient absorption and acne to gas and chronic bloating. Elimination diets are a popular and effective way of removing potential allergens or body system stressors (lactose, gluten, caffeine, etc.) from the diet to alleviate any negative reactions.

More protein and fat, keep carbs relatively low, but more importantly make sure you are only getting them from good sources (so NOT rice, wheat, corn, etc).

The 'green faces' is a bit dumbed down, because there are a lot of really good foods that aren't green. The idea is solid though, but really it's as simple as eliminating starches from the diet. If everyone in the world did that, diabetes, obesity, and heart disease would just about disappear.

^ one diet i researched recently was the "anabolic diet"
* 12 Days No Carbs. Eat proteins & fats only for 12 days. This forces your body to use fat for energy. After these 12 days, eat carbs for 2 days on. Then alternate 5 days no carbs and 2 days carbs.
* No Carbs Days. 40% protein, 60% fat, 25g carbs max. The carbs should come from foods like veggies, eggs, meat, … No oats or rice or milk.
* Carbs Days. 15% protein, 25% fat, 60% carbs. So 60% of your calories should come from carbs. These will fill your carb stores.

This diet's more for a low bf year round....i found it too hard to stick to since i love my carbs....and being a student means i NEED carbs. I found it much easier to eat shit loads of carbs for a few months to bulk, then nearly abolish them for a few months

After looking at hal0g0v2's lats I compared to mine and I need some serious work. I'd say they are probably my weakest part. Everything else seems to develop evenly but the lats are really lacking. I can't even make them sore, as a matter of fact, I don't think they have ever been sore. My last workout I focused on some wide grip lat pull downs, and I reduced the weight by about 15-20% to try and really focus on contracting the muscles. I tried hammering on them. Not sore (I know this isn't a effective way on judging a workout). Anyone have some other good lat exercises? I've been doing straight arm pulldown, lat pull downs, pull ups. Nothing seems to hit them.

Frustration!

I found that weighted pull-ups helped me. I got the weight belt and stuck on a 25-35 lbs plate on, did as many pull ups as I could. Then took it off and continued with just my body weight. KILLED my lats..
