slowly increasing my squat max
went from 225 to 235 today :fullofwin:

also started incorporating lower back, ab, and hack squats into my routine

Fcukedd 11-19-2012 09:08 PM

^ I tried to man up and went for it even though my legs were sore as shit. My quads ended up cramping, and it just felt fucked up when I squatted down.

From my experience, I wouldn't recommend it lol but I think red_sir went through the program regardless of how his legs felt. He's the one squatting 500lbs after all.

red_sir 11-19-2012 10:03 PM

Yeah, I went through the program regardless of how my legs felt... because my legs never got that sore haha. So take what I have to say with a grain of salt.
Anyways, IMO you have to decide for yourself if your legs are sore due to regular muscle soreness from lifting or if you potentially have a legitimate injury. If its the latter you might as well take some time off and heal up and attempt Smolov at a later date. If it's just reg soreness, than man up. Eat more, sleep more, and stay on top of the foam rolling/stretching.
For your next workout you could go and do your warm up sets and see how you feel then. If the pain doesn't go away or gets worse than maybe you should listen to your body and come back another day.

You know me and my bro were talking about arnold and how he wouldn't be the insperational figure to us if it wasn't for his conceited attitude.

Then he reminded me how much dbol he took and it's probably impossible for him not to think that way hahah

+1 to listening to your body... If its muscle soreness then its DOMS. You know what they say about DOMS, if you're not getting DOMS after a workout, you're not working hard enough because your muscles have already adapted to your workouts.

if it's tendon/ligament pain, then DEFINETLY rest it off, better to be safe then sorry. I'm close to being on my second week off from legs now because of my left knee, and I don't feel one bit of remorse for it.

ok maybe just a little :troll:
can't wait to start squatting again

Sid Vicious 11-19-2012 11:15 PM

if you work out heavy alot and do more complex movements you get way more CNS fatigue than DOMS imo

thing is if you have CNS fatigue you cant really tough it outs its better to rest

and TBH i dont know if i personally would call working out a lifestyle. being in a biker gang, now thats a lifestyle

L0uie69 11-20-2012 12:15 AM

i would do gpp work and condition your body/legs as well as foam rolling on your days off to reduce the affect doms has on you

Yeah

with low reps and high weight, you're more likely to get CNS fatigue rather than DOMS

sonick 11-20-2012 09:29 AM

So anybody know what's going on with ShitCentral and the basketball/warm up area?

L0uie69 11-20-2012 09:32 AM

its turning into castle fun park with the batting cage

ts14 11-20-2012 10:36 AM

ever since i started stretching, i would recover allot faster from workouts.

i literally spend an hour everyday to properly stretch out everything and anything lol
and since ive started stretching ive noticed that my form is allot cleaner and and i can lift a little more

So question: How do those of you with a gf already find motivation? Or a tired day after work? What pushes you if you can't find anything at all?

my gf knows i love the gym so she doesnt mind that i go. its only an hour or so of the day and sometimes i make her come with me and make her squat LOL

vafanculo 11-20-2012 12:43 PM

Gotta go to the gym for yourself, and no one else. My girl likes me going cause she knows I'll see a hot chick there, my test is high, and I'll come home and take it out on her loll.

Btw, is there some kind of gym God that times your flu with how well your progress is going? Was doing so well, now I been sick the last 4 days

I slept on my arm today, and woke up with a "stinging" or sharp pain when I straighten out my arm. Had to skip the gym today as I wouldn't be able to do anything.
Anyone have a similar experience? The pain is mostly where my elbow is, and kinda shoots throughout my forearm (not as bad as it sounds).

Dealifts are are slowly creeping up. Currently doing singles at 335 without straps or chalk. And by singles I really mean single :(

lol. that is probably the worst advise ever. It's like saying you will be happy being single for the rest of your life as long as you smile when you look in the mirror/ are admired by more men in the gym than females.

as long you're working out for your own happiness and well being, and aren't jeopardizing having a real life.
