So I got into lifting a few months ago, still pretty small. I'm on BLSS and today was Day 2 so I was doing my deadlifts. I had mexican for lunch and my stomach wasn't feeling very good, but I was determined to do my lifts because my dad's dying words were "Don't be a phaggot son." Anyways, I go to the gym and see a nice place open. Load up my weights, only doing 135 because I'm new at this. Anyways, I'm on my 2nd set and my bowels feel like they are about to explode. As I pick up the weights I let out a long, 3, maybe even 4 second fart. I look around scared, only this one guy saw me. He is trying to cover his laughter but its obvious and I feel really insecure. I do my other sets and decide this cheeky kuny wasn't gonna get in the way of me making my late father proud. I rape the chit out of the last set and feel like a beast. I let out a final fart with the last rep to mark my territory. Alpha as fuark, I know. I mutter under my breath "I will burn OP's house down." I leave the gym to make a thread about it.

Cliffs
Started lifting
farted during deadlifts
******* laughs at me
avenge father's death by going HAM
fart again to mark territory

Hey guys: Sorry off topic..

Where can I get muscle fitted dress shirts (work appropriate) locally? All I find is these slim fits or others that don't quite fit right.

- I didn't want to post this in the fashion section as they probably don't know!

Thanks :)

I custom tailor mine even when buying slim fit shirts. Nothing looks worse than people swimming in their clothing.

Took a week off last week because it was the last week of class and I was finishing up a ton of stuff. Back to the Oval tomorrow to distract me from exams :okay:

I Fart When Deadlifting Crew checking in

The_Situation 12-03-2012 03:48 AM

Deadlifts tonight at 3am. Went for a 1RM for the first time. Pulled 405lbs at 163lbs body weight. I don't feel that I locked out all the way though. Deadlifts are my weakest point I'd say.
Fucked up my new ipod headphones already from doing a bunch of deadlifts. Oh well.

Fcukedd 12-03-2012 06:20 AM

That was nothing. You can easily pull more!

honest opinon, your form is pretty off. but your strength is definitely there. you turned the lift into a straight legged deadlift by pushing with your legs before engaging your hips, and then using your lower back to pull the weight the entire way. your deadlift was essentially performed 100% by your lower back, when it should be a full body movement. there is a huge risk of blowing your back out doing it this way as your lower back is half relaxed while your legs drive (as you can see from how rounded your back gets when your legs are straigtened).

and at lock out, you leaned back instead of driving hips forward. deadlifts are all in the hips.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...lifterguy1.jpg

in the pic, see how the weight hasn't even started moving and your legs are already straight? i always at least 'try' to get the bar passed my knees before my legs are straight. from what i understand, the angle your back is at in your start position should never decrease thru the lift. the key is to at the very least hold your back at that angle until things start moving.

an easy at home way to feel what you should be doing is get into a deadlift start position with your face about a foot from a wall. slowly start to stand up like a deadlift. make sure your head moves as soon as you start to push with your legs. by facing the wall, you can easily visualize if your head is moving as you feel your ass move.

The_Situation 12-03-2012 05:34 PM

^ Yeah I noticed right away from the vid that it looked more like a SLDL. I should have started with my hips lower. Still working on flexibility on the hams which are kind of limiting me from utilizing my hips when going for heavy weights.
I can feel the hip drive with lower weights around 275lbs. But it is a 1rm afterall.

RRxtar 12-03-2012 05:43 PM

I dont necessarily think you need your hips lower. Just focus on engaging them right at the start.

I hear you on 1rm's tho. Its hard to keep form. Its sort of "I just gotta get this up, then I can start working on form"

How long have you been DLing for? You definitely have the power to pull 5 plates one day no problem. Just dont rush getting there

The_Situation 12-03-2012 05:50 PM

Been deadlifting since the summer of 2010. Before that was just brocep curls. Yeah im in no rush. Just wanted to see if I could get it up. I normally stick to reps of 315 and less.
Deadlifts are probably the most dangerous lifts if done improperly.

Yup! Herniated two discs in my lower back 5 years ago and developed extreme sciatica thanks to deads...

BUT, a solid stretching regime has done wonders for me (and my dl form).
