things like bow legs, bad teeth, etc have become part of the overall genetics in Japan. There are many corrective products to fix this, but for a lot of people, it is just considered 'normal' so they stick with it.

Changing voice pitch, etc, is cultural.
If they're sticking with their physical appearance because it is normal, wouldn't that be considered cultural then?

Japan really is quite unique from north american and imo any other culture at all because its held such strength to isolate its cultural traditions to this day. part of the reason why i want to visit one day.

And to stay on topic, for those of you residing in japan, what is the typical cost for a gym membership? Heard of gyms that specifically cater to the 'foreigner' population

If nobody had bow legs, and walked around bow legged anyway, then I would say it is purely cultural.

I got to Konami Sports Club and pay roughly 6000 yen a month. I also try to go to Gold's as much as I can in a neighboring city which has a drop in fee of about 2000. Not too sure how much their monthly memberships are but I'll check next time.

nohomo is always valid unless you're asking for a cock in your mouth

Meowjin 01-09-2013 04:52 PM

i had lunch with a guy at work at he gave me his routine:

Chest day
- bench press
- incline dumbell press
- horizontal butterflies
- laying down pull overs

Back
- lat pulldown
- closed grip pull down
- barbell row
- single hand dumbell rows
- lat push down

Shoulders
- overhead press with barbell
- upright rows
- shoulder butterflies
- cross cable extension

Legs
- squats
- leg press
- leg extension
- leg curls

Biceps/Triceps
- Tricep cable push down and preacher curl super set
- skull crushers with dumbells and bicep curls super set
- hammer curls
- cable curls/ez bar curls

obviously alot of my terms are incorrect but that's his routine...thoughts?

i don't agree with some of it but i'd like to hear what you guys think....each one of those is a seperate day

My bench day is something like this (total bro science coming up) I'm benching 300lbs right now 5x5.

flat bench barbell 5 x 5
incline bench barbell 5 x 5
weighted dips till exhaustion minimum 5 reps
pushups till exhaustion
Also flip a bosu ball upside down and grip it from the sides and do pushups.

Fcukedd 01-09-2013 05:18 PM

Hitting PRs every chest workout! 225x9 on the flat bench for first working set; 8 reps last week. Slowly, but surely. :)

EDIT: Trained at SFU today btw. Anyone go often? I'll be training there on Wednesdays and Fridays anytime between 10:30-2:30. It would be cool to meet one of you and maybe get in a workout together.

decided to change up my squats just for today

did 275x2 (bit higher weight, less reps) for 6-8 sets <- lost counts and just kept squatting lol
what i noticed was that even though the weight is higher, i felt more and more comfortable getting under a heavy load after each set
and in the later sets, the weight felt lighter then when i did the first set

That's what I did today too, 8 sets of doubles.

It's an awesome feeling getting comfortable squatting heavy loads isn't it? When I don't squat often enough heavy reps are physically draining and mentally intimidating. When I am in peak squatting shape from squating 3-4+ times a week, they're a breeze and so much fun.

Huh reading the plot makes it sound more interesting than the trailer, that's for sure. SPOILER ALERT though, it's a true story, and it doesn't have a happy ending :lol

Ed Harris should be good in that role

Btw, for anyone looking for a gym in Richmond, Richmond Sports Club >>> Sport Central IMO. Checked out Sport Central last night, it was a gong show. Sports Club, on the other hand, I was the only guy in the entire free weight room this afternoon.
