well bodybuilding maybe, but in terms of athletics your lower body is way more important is it helps you run faster, jump higher, etc. thats not the say the upperbody isnt important, but you can hit it pretty easy with bench and OHP. certain muscles have almost no practical functionality such as biceps or calves

Yes and yes squats are key.. I wish I did more squats when I first started training. The biceps are on the bottom of the list of things to do at the gym. Calves are more important.

i really want to high bar

chin3se604 02-25-2013 09:09 PM

love it when i get the squat rack to myself without being disturbed, while doing 5x5 stronglift exercises

Alpine50 02-25-2013 11:11 PM

2 months back in the gym.
Squats - 225 3x5
Deads - 225 3x5
Bench - 225 3x5

I haven't been doing my regular squats and deadlifts I changed up my stances so ill see what my lifts are next month. Years been going good so far, hopefully ill be as motivated half way through the year as I am now.

We're not endorsing to train legs everyday. The point is that legs are something that the average joe at the gym will tend not to train. And you can't possibly say that every body part is equally important when legs take up a massive portion of your body. You can go dedicate a whole day to your biceps while I dedicate mine to my calves, quads, hamstrings, and glutes.

LC your 1rm for deads is 4 plates right? what's your regular work set at? just curious to see how much you normally lift for reps, when you hit 4 plates for 1 rep , just to get an idea because i'm slowly getting close as well

I did 135 x 8, 225 x 5, 315 x 5, 365 x 3, 405 x 1, 415 x 0(failed), 315 x 5

i usually pyramid up and add weight depending on how i feel. For deads i don't like to have a set amount of weight, i usually listen to my body on how much weight i can handle

Hey, Richmond Sports Club, I had a trial drop in there on Saturday. How busy does it get during peak hours?

Feel free to put the weights wherever you want also
When I went with hotong instant and red sir none of the weight where on the rack lol

sonick 02-26-2013 11:02 AM

lol yea I noticed dumbbells were everywhere, worse than SportsCentral. Plates were okay though...

red_sir 02-26-2013 11:45 AM

Haha! Dumbbells on the floor means you can roll them to your bench easier. Taking them off the rack is actually more work.

And yeah, like hotong said, it doesn't get very busy. Even during peak hours you don't have to wait around long for a equipment.

Are you gonna sign up sonick?

sonick 02-26-2013 11:47 AM

Maybe, depends on how much it will be if I renew my current SC membership.

I just renewed the other day. It was 279$ total for a year

subordinate 02-26-2013 03:51 PM

Thought you were on the 16, month to month contract Sonick?

Although not as fantastic as the groupon two years ago (100 dollars for a year), 16/month no contract is a steal still, for what SC offers.

And free trials of Peanut butter? yep!

Depends on how you're built in my opinion. I have shorter legs and a larger torso; I find high bar is more comfortable.

Fcukedd 02-26-2013 03:58 PM

Y'all need to reveal yourself at SC lol

Jordanl250 02-26-2013 04:27 PM

Long time no post. I've been rehabbing my hamstring tear for the past little while. No more conventional deadlifts for me :( I switched over to sumo and theres no pain. got some ink done as well in the downtime. Finally hit my goal deadlift check one off the bucket list!

Fcukedd 02-26-2013 04:36 PM

Sick, that was nothing to you. You could probably add another 20lb
