You think that's a steal? I somehow got last years 8th leading scorer Selanne 107th overall. Gotta love yahoo rankings!

Tim Budong 09-30-2011 05:11 PM

i rmb Selanne went late in my pools last year too
but gotta rmb, he wasnt projected close to 80pts
was floating around the 50-60pt range
that sounds about right, 100th overall and considering his age.

Malkin is looking really good this year.

I think I am going to kill it in my other pool, with both Malkin and Ovechkin, Getzlaf, and I think Kovie will have a good year this time around too, now that most of the controversy is behind him.

RS1 though, I dunno... Kind of wish I had done more research, considering most people in RS1 seem to take it pretty seriously

I believe Mario Lemieux and Pavel Bure both have praised on the hard work of Malkin during and post rehab to put his knee in top shape

One of his boss, so it is biased, the other is Pavel Bure, who speaks by experience.

The media has also reported that his knee's recovery has been excellent and no flaws/setbacks were found.

Malkin can kill it. especially in h2h pool. I think he's the darkhorse of the draft

SkinnyPupp 09-30-2011 07:50 PM

If the pool took place in the playoffs I definitely wouldn't want to rely on euros so much!

but stamkos dropping to 5th was a shocker..
but then..Gh0strider rides detroit like how he rides his white women. LOL

Malkin is great. 2 player position that is FINALLY healthy. could be the steal of the top5

nhan would take stamkos, but that gayass was on auto without any ranking done, so top ranked gets picked for him

Grandmaster TSE 09-30-2011 09:23 PM

i think of us in RS1 do take it pretty seriously

i know i do, love hockey so much that i can't help it hahah

Tim Budong 09-30-2011 09:29 PM

Poolies..Armchair GMs that almost ALWAYS believe their strategies at team building is the shit

I think my style of H2H play rubbed off onto GrandmasterTse LOL

noob fantasy hockey dude here. I am thinking about doing my first one on yahoo and see how it goes. What is the difference between head2head and rotisserie(the cooking one? LOL) or w/e it's called?

Tim Budong 10-01-2011 01:00 AM

H2H pools are when u battle another team once a week.
The winner is determined by how many stat columns are won between the two teams each week. One point for every stat column won. Standings work by overall points

Rotisserie Pools are like H2H, but you compete with the entire league all at once in terms of stat columns. So if u win say the Goals Stat in a 14 team league, u get 14 points for being number one. Points are calculated based on that. So its a final total at the end

I've personally never have done a Rotisserie pool, but it seems similar enough to H2H that the strategies are almost the same. Its more competitive in H2H and has a better chance to make a comeback

I enjoy the Yahoo H2H pools because of the added depth. Its not always about who scores the most goals or points. Its WHERE the points lie. This is why guys like Brendan Morrow and RJ Umberger are much more valuable in these leagues. They might not rack up too many points compared to the elites, but these guys will gain u points on special teams columns like PP or SHP.

Ryan Kesler for example. Last year in a points league, the guy wouldnt be as valuable as he would have been in a H2H league due to the added depth. Yes he did have a break out year, but its where the points lie for him that make him that much more valuable.

I've said quite a bit of things, and to some members who have participated in my leagues somewhat know how I draft. I will leave this golden rule for Yahoo H2H.

DEPTH WINS YOU POOLS.

LSF22 10-01-2011 01:19 AM

Head to head is definitely more competitive. I've only been in 4 or 5 pools, and all have been head to head. RS2 is my first points only and it's a really different strategy of drafting. For example in rotisserie, I find that goalies aren't as valuable as in a head to head league, whereas in head to head you usually account for stats like PIM's and plus/minus

oh, and +1 to depth winning you your pool.

HonestTea 10-01-2011 01:21 AM

IMO, H2H is better. Way more fun and competitive.

Tim Budong 10-01-2011 01:35 AM

on another note....
if i set up a keeper league set at say 3 yrs, who would be down.
just curious. if this were to happen, I want to try fantrax. or maybe stick with Yahoo H2H
draft will happen wednesday 730pm....
should consist of some rs members plus friends>?

HonestTea 10-01-2011 01:43 AM

I'll be down, use Yahoo H2H, it's the safer option lol

LSF22 10-01-2011 02:13 AM

I'd be down to try, but I'm a keeper pool noob :okay:

and yeah, I vote Yahoo too.

I'm down!

SkinnyPupp 10-01-2011 05:55 AM

So how does keeper work?

AWDTurboLuvr 10-01-2011 08:50 AM

I didn't get into RS1 or RS2, but I'm down for a keeper...but no salary cap thank you.

Skinny: Most of the time, depending of depth of the league, you'll draft like normal and at the end of the season, you'll get to keep a pre-determined amount of players, but give up the ability to draft at the round where you drafted your original players you decided to keep. So if you wanted to keep Sedin and you drafted him in the 1st round, you have to wait til the next round to draft. Some leagues have limits on how long you can keep a player (2-3 years max)...just to keep the players in rotation.

Gh0stRider 10-01-2011 09:53 AM

never done a keeper league before, im down to try it out

SkinnyPupp 10-01-2011 09:57 AM
