My Plan SP Unlimited Plan w/Double Min Unlimited Eve & Wknd Minutes 50 Bonus Weekday Minutes Unlimited Incoming Calls 250+250 Weekday Minutes 6pm Early Evening Calling Included with My Plan Call Forward/Trans.Pay Per Use 500MB Data Option Van./Vic. Rate Following 2500 Sent/Unltd Rcvd Text Msgs Partial Detail Billing $69.83 after tax my contract ends @ 08-Jun-2013(since 2010 Jun) I wonder how much penalty will it be if I switch now? The only phone I'm interested to get is Galaxy Nexus(not available from Rogers yet) My voice usage go from 800mins to 2000mins a month(so far doesn't need to pay extra for mins), but need to pay for Data, LD, Roaming and Picture & Video Msgs. (10/12 months a year) & the plan isn't cheap to begin with. Thank you |
Operating under the assumption that your data contract ends June 2013 as well... You're looking at $20/mo to a max of $400 and $10/mo to a max of $100 for an early cancellation with Rogers. $20 x 18 = 360 $10 x 10 = 100 = $460 + taxes (yes, they tax the ECF) + prorated charges for your last month when you port out. Your final bill will easily be ~$550 or more, depending on where in your billing cycle you port out. As far as plans, yes, it is easy to find better plans through Wind, Mobilicity, or even Virgin and Koodo. Wind has the $40 Holiday Miracle Plan, Mobilicity the $25 Back to School plan, Virgin and Koodo the $35 City plans, etc. etc. As far as saving you significant amounts of money... Wind or Mobilicity, based on the amount of voice minutes you use (though it could depend on what time of day you use most of your minutes). |
Thx Alatar So up front I have to pay around $600 to Rogers. If I go for that $40+tax plan from wind, each month I'll be paying $44.8. The amount I can save during this period of time : ($70-$45)X18 = $450+ & a newer phone(from Sony X10 to Nexus S, $0 on WINDtab+ ) I'm okay with my X10, so most likely I'll be happy with the Nexus S. Any hidden fee or catch I should be aware from Wind? |

no wind can't detect tethering. |

From what I've gathered: No tethering add-on --> 5GB of data before possibly getting throttled With tethering add-on --> 10GB of data before possibly getting throttled It doesn't matter if it's used on your phone or tethered to another device, the add-on only changes the data usage soft-cap. |

i tether all the time on the holiday plan never had any issues i just browse the net though |

The only thing wind will do is enforce their "5 gig soft cap" if you don't have the tethering option added. It becomes a "10 gig soft cap" once you have the tethering option added. |
rogers will now offer all plans on monthly terms |
