| For those who are up for Rogers hardware upgrade
If I renew my contract for another 3 years with rogers at futureshop, can I get the galaxy s2 lte for 0.01 + $35 activation fee? Or does that only apply to new customers? http://www.futureshop.ca/en-CA/produ...c06dc8cdd5en02
I was told that it was only for new customers, but I thought that it wouldn't matter as long as you signed on for another 3 yrs? Thanks

I'm not sure you've been following what's been going on, but dont re-new with Rogers.
Even though you can get the s2 LTE for that cheap, would you really wanna sign on for another 3 years with a company that will take away your credits without your knowledge and generally does NOT care about your satisfaction?

Rogers is losing customers left and right. They finally figured out they cant ignore lower tier customers and 3 yr contracts are BS that no one will accept any more.

They jus gave me a decent retention plan that I would be ok with. Although tthey are more on the pricey side but cell service has always been good, I can't really afford to have dropped calls and shitty reception Posted via RS Mobile |

Sometimes at work for no reason my phone will drop to one bar or no bars for at least half the day. The other 95% of the time its full and RARELY drops to 3 bars.

The customers they've lost wont be coming back unless they change their business attitude and offer even BETTER plans than what the competition is offering.

I buy unlocked @ full price. Not worth my soul four a subsidized phone. Then again, I'm an adult with a full time job.

I dropped Rogers and went to Koodo. Sure I had to pay $600 for my final Rogers bill, but I'm done with contracts and with Rogers.
Now I get per-second-billing (true per-second-billing, not Fido's first 30 seconds automatically, or Rogers' grandfathered per-second after the first minute billing) and Canada-Wide calling. As well as international texting.
You have to ask yourself if your data use justifies paying a premium for your services, and how much data you expect to use.
I made the decision that I could go with <100mb/month on 3g/hspa+, the rest on wifi at home/work.
I was having failed texts quite often with Rogers, as well as failed calls/dropped calls. Not acceptable when you live in Vancouver proper. In fact, I was just talking to my brother today who has a Nexus S with no data plan (data turned off) and out of the 150 texts he's tried sending in the past month... 10% have given him send failed errors

If you were still wondering about the hardware upgrade, I recently did a hardware upgrade for this phone at futureshop.
I didn't get the price stated on the website though because it wasn't a new activation. It was around 250 with a 50 dollar mail in rebate.

Futureshop said only for new customers not for existing ones. Exisiting customers cost $150 phone + 35 activation fee for the s2 lte.
^what company do u recommend for the same features for cheaper then rogers? Posted via RS Mobile |

I don't know much about phones and phone companies, but on my personal experience, Bell is pretty good.
Never had any dropped calls, always got my texts in and out. They gave me a lot for a $25 plan. I don't know about data because I was not willing to pay an extra $25 a month for data :/
Again, I don't know much, but this is my personal experience

Yea I checked out bell too, but Bell is offering $57 before tax for the same stuff but with 350 daytime mins and you need to open 2 lines minimum for a small business to eligible. Port in credit for $360 (36 x $10 a month) is available for $65 plan (550 daytime) which brings it down to the same thing about.
Rogers retention giving me $50 before tax 6gb data, caller id, unlimited evening, 200 daytime, etc etc (the usual stuff). And they waive my early upgrade fee also, I have 9 months remaining before im eligible under the new HUP.
