I'm so excited about this movie, as I'm a huge fan of Alien and Aliens (Alien 3 & 4, along with the two AvP movies ruined the series... at least IMO).
This movie is loosely based on the Alien universe. That is to say, the space jockey from the first movie and the origin of that particular race is part of the focus, but the aliens that we know from the other movies will not be appearing. I read something with Scott stating that while this movie (and any possible sequels) is loosely based in the Alien universe, it's not a direct prequel and will be more of a "reboot" than anything else.
Anyone else thought nearly every scene was a bit predictable?
Spoiler!
example:
david touching that black shit. you knew he was gonna poison someone.
the moment fifield kissed shaw. i said to myself "alien baby".
2 guys left alone in the tunnels. dead for sure.
when david speaks to the space jockey people at the end. you knew he was about to fuck everybody up
too many unanswered questions and shit that i felt didn't make sense throughout the movie
Spoiler!
they never explained why that space jockey dude in the first scene drank that shit
the 2 guys that got left behind. first to leave and had the most time to get out and they get lost. also, one of them is the navigator. they also decide to touch that penis snake looking thing when it spawns. the dude with the tattoos was too scared to go into the room but now he's ballsy enough to stick around when that alien thing is right infront of him?
after shaw got the caesarean section, she just left that squid thing just chilling in that room. it was never dead. she never thought to report that to anyone? or at the very least i would imagine every room might have a camera or something. either way that bothered me through the movie cause in the back of my mind i knew that thing was stilll there and they just ignored it.
the space jockey people never spoke too. when david speaks to them near the end of the movie, i thought they were going to say something before fucking everybody up.
i thought the overall acting was great. cgi was well done. i felt it was way over hyped. a bit of a let down to be honest. i was expecting this to be amazing.
5/10

I thought it was very good and the CGI was excellent for a movie that is mainly filmed in front of a green screen. I thought the story was told well and even tho there are lots of questions thats what you want from a movie
