Reason I'm asking is cause Acura I've heard is giving crazy deals on 4G TL's | Why yes I do! You've asked the right person because I could give you an exact answer about how I feel when comparing the two cars.
The 3G TL? It wins in the category of Fun, aggressive looks, and speed.
This car was alot more fun to drive daily, the steering was heavy yes, but you feel more and it feels more like driving when you're driving this, from the throttle, the brake, to going around the corners (even though this car was not meant to go around corners fast since its so heavy). The car looks alot more masculine and aggressive comparing to the 4G, and acceleration speed from the J35 was abit more aggressive and felt faster comparing to the J35.
As for the 4G, this car is alot more comfortable, the interior looks alot more classy, comes oem with LED interior dome lighting, although the navi is abit confusing (they went with the nob and got rid of the touch screen the 3G had), the AWD I say would be alot faster around the corners (even though you can barely feel it cuz its so comfortable) but they softened up the car comparing to the 3G, the J37 has less of a pulling feel to it, I assume its because of the AWD. The exterior I would prefer the 3G style, but this car looks more mature. The steering is very very light when I first got in the car, most likely because I was so used to the heavy steering the 3G-S had. Surprisingly with the increased displacement and AWD, there wasn't much gain in fuel consumption, I average around 12-14L/100km (I got around 13L-14L/100km with the 3G only cuz I was so throttle happy) in Richmond driving and sometimes having to give it abit more throttle to avoid those bad drivers.
But, I say if I had a choice, and you're planning to keep the car for long term and yet can afford it, go for the 4th gen. With the AWD now you won't regret getting it. I've sat in Audi's or any family sedans with AWD and nothing feels as nice as the 4th Gen TL. Especially that it can get any where all 4 seasons. (I might be biased though =P)

What about the size difference? Is it just my eyes or does the 4G look a lot wider and bigger?
If we do get one it is going to be the family hauler. Dont want it to be too wide cause my mom will drive it and shes used to small cars. Only reason why we didnt pull the trigger on an MDX

Newest car for us!
I am soooo bad at taking pictures lol.
But it's a 95 teg, sadly not a 5 speed. It's to be my daily driver/winter beater until my younger brother gets his N, this it's his. Pretty nice though, only cost $2000! But the steering coloumn needed replacing, new antenna, banged a dent on the fender back into place, new headlight assembly and new front tires. Still miss my red DA though |
