but will there be residual glue when you remove it? that's what I'm worried about, leaving glue behind if its been in the sun for a while

I did it once with the green 3M stuff and took my car to Osoyoos for a long weekend. Total bitch to take off. The extended period of time out in the hot desert sun probably was part of the reason why most of the adhesive stayed on the car...

You don't want to leave the tape on for too long otherwise a residue will be left behind. I found that if you wet the tape first that it's alot easier to remove when wet, however you definitely don't want to get it wet and then dry on the car cause then it really sticks onto the car.
