Anybody using speakout?

Anybody using Speakout? I'm currently using Fido pre-paid, paying $10/month for 30c/min anytime (20c/outgoing text). I only use my phone for emergencies, so I usually have leftover minutes every month. I just noticed that 7-11 speakout pre-paid vouchers have 1 year expiry date (vs fido's 30-day expiry) and have slightly better rate (25c/min, 10c/outgoing text) and they have a $10/month unlimited browsing data package. Just wondering if anybody is using it and what their experience has been like? Was it easy to switch over and keep your phone #? Also, I noticed Fido only charges $0.75/month for monthly 911 fee, but speakout charged $1.25/month. Is that normal?

My brother was using Speakout but moved over to Fido because he needed a plan that worked better for his uses.

He was on Speakout for the longest time (high school) and because he didn't need the phone as much nor did he have much money, it worked for him. The 911 is slightly higher, yes, but in the end, the rates worked out better for him which were primarily text messaging. Be forewarned however - you cannot roam in the US.

Side note - because he had $25 left on it, we kept the SIM and number for people who came out of town and gave them a phone to use. So far, it's been extremely helpful.

I know you're asking about speakout but since you only use it for emergencies and don't mind switching to WIND, then you can sign up for the $0/month for free incoming calls and incoming text messages as long as you add $10 into your account every month or $40 in every 6 months.

Does she have the $10/month data package? Any problems using it (e.g. slow data speeds, etc)? Thanks!

Free incoming calls are limited to wind users right?, For example, My friends on Bell or Rogers calls me, It isnt considered Free incoming call since they are not Wind callers.

Please confirm this?

Free incoming calls and text from anyone as long as you are in a WIND zone. I tested it by calling it with my Fido phone many times and no money was deducted from my account. I also made one call out with my Wind phone and it deducted $0.20 right away.
