A couple days ago, a red rash showed up on the side of my Ranchu's body and now it seems to have spread to other parts of his body. I'm not quite sure how to explain it so here are some pictures:

http://img861.imageshack.us/img861/1606/img0857b.jpghttp://img4.imageshack.us/img4/5791/img0858kx.jpg
http://img837.imageshack.us/img837/6365/img0859iq.jpg

He's been eating normally and swimming relatively normal, except sometimes he will flick his body around in a weird way though he doesn't seem to be flashing as he's not trying to rub himself on anything.

On the right side of his body near the tail end where there's a bit of the red rash on it, there also appears to be something that looks similar to a blister as it's slightly swollen.

Anyone have idea what the cause of this might be and how to remedy it? I will be bringing a water sample with me to King Ed tomorrow and asking them to test it.

I have at least 2 10s (maybe 3), a 4G, and I will have a 29G free in the nearish future. I'm just letting it's last inhabitants live out the last of their days.

I'm a fishing hobbyist - I love to get out on the water in my spare time, I have some real nice lures and tackle and...

Oh, wait... :troll:

My kid works in the fish department at Petland in PoCo, go see him for your tanking needs :)

its harder than FW thats for sure.

and its a huge money pit
lights alone cost 200-1000 for a 3 feet tank like mine.
then if you want a sump.
you will need to drill your tank and make a DIY sump or buy one.
after that ! you need a skimmer. which runs around 200-1000 dollar again as well.
so far this week i ve been lucky buying the liverocks and livesand plus the livestock for cheap, but i just ordered my lights and skimmer etc is all in process.

btw forgot to mention,. you Have to buy liverock to grow beneficial bacteria in your tank. and you need .5-1 pound per gallon and its 10 dollar a pound. Livesand is optional.

Fafine 01-27-2012 08:46 PM

too much $$
rather buy a red arowana for the price of equipments LOL

xilley 01-27-2012 08:47 PM

never bit the bullet for those things plus flower horns.
aros are nice, but the little creatures in SW tank are amazing. everyone has their jobs and you will see mysis shrimp and other sea creatures come out of no where its fascinating

Fafine 01-27-2012 09:02 PM

yeah BUT handing feeding my arowana was one of the best thing ever LOL or when i felt a bit mean, watching him chase down live food is fun too.

I have a 100 gallon tank that's been sitting in my garage for the past 20 years unused. I don't want it. If anyone would like it, you're more than welcome to come pick it up.
