equalibrum isnt that cheap if you do waterchanges often, thats why i bought a kilo of it a few months ago, as my 210 gallon needs alot just to keep the GH up. and for KH i dont even bother, its not as big of a deal. |
Are there any good forums asides from Bcaquaria? |

Hehe but on a serious note, there are many Fish-type specific forums you can look up if you are interested. There's MonsterFish forums, Piranha forums, Arrowana forums, Pufferfish forums, etc... |
i have a 55g planted tank, i just got a c02 system red sea brand, but its not pumping bubbles out yet...maybe the c02 hasnt fully reacted yet since it just came with sugar and yeast. also got fluval stratum and 2 high out put t5 bulbs still pretty new to this, only been doing this for a year. got a few parrots, neons, harlequins, red tails, golden rams, peacock eel, golden sucker, couple corys . everyone gets along |
that thing isnt the greatest because its not consistant.. it will have a higher output in the begining and taper down. i've used it before but if its a low cost/easy setup.. it will be fine if you go higher tech.. i suggest getting a 10lb tank with a diffuser with your c02/lights on a timer |

hey guys, of these 3, which do you think is the best deal? 60gallon Fishtank + Accessories - Moving Sale must sell 55 gal complete aquarium set - excellent condition 55 gallon freshwater aquarium setup i'm leaning towards http://vancouver.en.craigslist.ca/rd...849642859.html this one, but i don't know how good submersible filters are. any insight? |
^^ Youll want to get a canister filter if you want pristine water. Ive had a few submersible filters in the past. They dont do that great of a job unless youre constantly changing water out of the tank. Submersible filter wont really be enough in a 55-60g tank depending on your stocking list. Theres not enough media in a submersible to hold waste. |

Here are some pictures of my restoration tank. My buddy gave it to me since it was in his garage for many years and he wanted to get rid of it. I resealed it, built a stand, made custom input/output pipes. I'll take pictures once everything is done. http://www3.telus.net/willdathrill/tank/IMG_1107.JPG http://www3.telus.net/willdathrill/tank/IMG_1109.JPG http://www3.telus.net/willdathrill/tank/IMG_1115.JPG http://www3.telus.net/willdathrill/tank/IMG_1122.JPG http://www3.telus.net/willdathrill/tank/IMG_1144.JPG http://www3.telus.net/willdathrill/tank/IMG_1151.JPG http://www3.telus.net/willdathrill/tank/IMG_1168.JPG |

maxxxboost wow that looks great! How big is the tank? Is that a 150g? So you build the stand from scratch too? Painted and everything it looks great! Maybe you can build one for me one day? ;) |

buy the on sale tanks at king eds, 75 gallon 99 dollars, and stand 150. thats $250 and then I would go to Charles On BCA, as I m sure your on it because I saw your thread. ask him for a 4 foot fixture, which he has for cheap. (Id go with led Beamswork LED 600 - freshwater bright 36-48" for 75 bucks, Just because it gives you that ocean floor effect) lol and filter, I would rather go HOB than canister, I dislike canister because I often get the Layer of Oil on top of the water. but none the less, its personal opinion. with my option atleast you got everything NEW BUT, the setup your leaning towards, seems like you could bargain quite a bit ($200-220) with that seller because hes moving, But if its just an excuse.. then they wouldnt budge. and also, tell him you dont want the filter and you want another $50 off the $200 or $220. and go spend that 50 bucks on something better. BTW, forgot to ask the most important question, what are you planning to put in the Tank? |
maybe someone can help me out here I still seem to be having a hard time keeping my plants, none are dead, but some leaves and curling and going brown, and some almost look burnt. anyways, I have 2 35w high output aqua glow lights on a timer for 8 hours, I got that small redsea c02 system, fluval stratum, and add seachem excel everyday and seachem comprehensive plant supplement 2 times a week. any tips or pointers? |
thanks for the reply xilley! But i ended up picking up this setup: FS : Equipment and Tank (Quitting Hobby) off a buddy. great deal and he threw in WAY more than what was in the ad and incase youre still wondering, i'm housing community fish. just tetras, angels, clowns, rainbows, some sharks, the usual basically! ill be sure to throw up some photos when my fishes new home is up and running! Yeah, the tank was build by 2x4s from scratch. If you need any assistance in building a stand, i can try to help. I helped my friend build his and it turned out totally different. hahaaha. All i got to say is measure twice, cut once. Better yet, get the hardware store to cut all your wood for perfect cuts. :D |
Hmm nice setups. Didn't know there was a fish thread here on RS. My tank started nice.. then went to craps :( Largely due to laziness and a damn hitchhiker in my live rock. Running saltwater Hex tank 35g. All that's left is a Gobi and a freakin mantis shrimp. |
