As already posted, If a car is written off, ICBC gives you the estimate based on the the market value of similar cars for sale..... not how much you paid for your car. Speaking from experience..

Yes, the previous owner bought it from the importer in 2007 and drove on the JDM VIN til I bought it last spring, I still have the JDM VIN.
