Dodge Dart (based off alfa romeo giulietta)

i didnt know this was kind of old news (a week?)

but anyway i was watching the Barett jackson auction and they had a dodge dart go on sale and the announcers were talking about how dodge is bringing the dart back and it'll be based on the Alfa Romeo Giulietta except the car is going to be a bit wider and about 12" longer

silly me i was only thinking about the 8C and was interested

but then i realized alfa romeo had other cars and the Giulietta actually looks like this

which isn't bad but if its going to be a "foot longer" and a little wider im thinking

anyway here's Chryslers website 2013 Dodge Dart | All New compact that's everything but compact | Dodge

and their abomination after "americanizing?" the Giulietta

starting @ $16k supposedly

base model is a 2.0L 160hp also available in 1.4L Turbo multiair (fiat tech) & 2.4L 184hp multiair ii

looks like a Neon....

Looks alright for that segment of car, I like the sloping more agressive profile. Not the best looking car but I wouldn't group it with the neon... but that's usually the direction RS goes with domestic brands

If anything it's a more attractive hyundai accent

yes it looks better than the accent

but after looking @ the giulietta you'd hope for something similar except with dodge branding... not a shell that looks like an updated for the times neon

The Giulietta is waay better looking. Has a lot of praise from european journalists for the design. I don't know why they didn't just rebadge it and leave the styling the same...yet another disappointment from Chrysler....I mean Fiat.

Because Americans don't buy hatchbacks...even the new A3 will be a sedan.

While the Giuletta looks nice, it was kind of disappointing once I got to drive it on my trip in Italy. Handling wasn't all that crisp and the interior quality (while looking great in photos) weren't that nice in person and had a lot of cheap plastics. The Ford Focus is a better car in that segment.

Shouldve let the Italians design the exterior. Shit looks dumb, like the new 3 series.

Did somebody give them a requirement to have the headlights touch the grill?

..the beamer will grow on me. It's unoffensive and looks like an evolution of the E90.

This is a Dart, not that pos. I have a 1970 dart, and I guess starting in 2013, whenever people ask me what I drive, I have to explain myself that it isn't the shitty neon replacement. F.

This is also a dart!

It reminds me of that 4 door charger concept. It looks alright, I suppose. I've lost all hope for dodge after owning a pos Neon. They make the ugliest everything. It seems every car brand is taking a memo from the lancer and making their cars without bumpers.

^ Supposedly, they're coming back in 2014 with a new sedan called the Giulia. Personally, I'd like to see Fiat expand it's NA line to include the Punto.

Oooookay... The Dart was originally designed to be an entry model, much like I imagine this new one is going to be. It was really only the late 60's and super early 70's models that could kinda be classified as a muscle car... and then only if you got the coupe with the 440.

Apart from that, it was truly a cheap, family car.
