feel like the batting cage is such a waste of space at sports central. :(

StutteR_ 11-25-2012 01:15 PM

Since Gold's Gym Richmond closed down...I need to get back to the Gym asap! I need to choose between Steve Nash Richmond or the Oval?

BinsentoW 11-25-2012 03:10 PM

From what Ive heard, its not for public use.
For richmond softball or something

BrRsn 11-25-2012 03:24 PM

the owner of SC is just trying to make as much cash as possible lol

Office space is available for lease if you look at the front of the building
he leases out the crossfit area
he's now going to lease out the batting cages
IIRC he also holds squash tournaments and I'm sure they pay good money to rent that as well lol

The whole thin-dumbbell area is so cramped now

Jeebus123 11-28-2012 02:59 PM

Can anyone recommend me a gym with UNI-LATERAL machines? I wish gym websites would show a lot of detail of what type of equipment they have.

It is pretty annoying if they are gonna keep the machines where they are now, all cramped in the area even after the batting cage is done.

^+1. With the gym gone, I can't play ball anymore :okay:. Not going to renew membership, looking into Richmond Sports Club.

Anyone have a membership at the surrey YMCA on hwy10 and 152? Think I'm going to try and get a low income membership there

Yes, I go there. Awesome gym!
Some of my friends have low income and pay like 17/month after tax.
Lucky bastards :okay:

Gh0stRider 11-29-2012 08:30 AM

YMCA

Cost: $35 if you're still a student, $48.50 if you're not

The gym itself is pretty decent, lots of benches and weights and an average amount of people. There are cardio programs and pools, sauna, that you might be interested in as well.

With a membership pass, you can access to any ymca in Canada, and I'd say it's worth it.

Alpine50 12-01-2012 11:14 PM

Couple friends got a membership at anytime fitness. Looks pretty nice $35 a month, just swipe ur card and you can hit the gym whenever. Anyone go there?

You might be bitching when the day comes where you're deadlifting 5 plates, but the barbells are so loose that all the plates fall off midway and you injure yourself.

dmak4 12-04-2012 09:53 PM

Richmond Oval

$42/month 2 year contract
Youth still LOL

There are usually a good amount of people lifting weights, but in the mornings the courts are empty, though sometimes there are some type groups that are there I don't know what they do never paid attention haha.

Only bad thing is at night it's ALWAYS packed, the whole facility. Everyone comes after work I assumed.

Also Drive takes up a lot of the courts around 4-6 for a while.

Has anyone been to the new anytime fitness vancouver location on Cedar Cottage Mews?
its new and I'm curious about their membership prices?

kevin7352 12-23-2012 09:21 PM

went to try it out the other day with gf. everything is brand new! the free weights area is pretty small though and its really quiet right now. no proper bench tho

pinn3r 12-23-2012 09:39 PM

just signed up at the newly-opened Anytime Fitness a couple days ago. everything is brand new
they even have private showers

they don't do drop-ins, and i believe there are 2 options: the 24-month & 12 month contract
if you go for the 12mnth, it's ~$49+tax/month. the 24mnth is ~$39+tax/month
if you're under 18, they give you a 10% discount. i get mine for ~$35+tax/month
you also have to pay a one-time fee of $50 ($25 for activation or somethin like that, and the other $25 for the key)

Alpine50 12-28-2012 12:16 PM

^^^ there's a new anytime fitness that just opened in surrey right around scottroad and 64th a couple of my friends go they got lucky and got there promo price free card and $35 a month fee. I'm looking into that gym might get a membership but I heard they have no bench press or a squat rack so Im thinking I might go to the YMCA in surrey but I'm going to walk in and check it out myself.

I was interested in signing up with them but for 40 bucks a month on a 2 year commitment is pointless. I'd rather stay with my Trevor Linden gym until something better comes along.

KO7 12-30-2012 01:12 PM

Wish there was a Trevor Linden gym in Richmond or South Van :(

Alpine50 12-30-2012 07:31 PM

There's a new one opening in surrey central $14.99 for new memberships
