I'm looking for a new gym, can you guys recommend me some?

I've been at sports central all my life but it's getting packed as fuck.

Must be:

-in vancouver richmond or burnaby..but not to far into burnaby.
-have lots of power/squat and bench presses (more then 4+ is preferable)
-relatively cheap, no more then 40+ a month
-has chalk available
-has chin up bars
-ventilated

I hope a gym like this exist in our area...

very hard to find gyms that has chalk or even allow it. Go in the morning if its too packed. I wake up at 6 every morning and get to the gym at around 7. Beat them going to the gym early

Richmond Oval is a little more expensive than your budget but..

2 flat benches, incline and decline benches for barbells

6 power cages, 3 of these have grips for pull-ups/chin-ups

you can bring your own chalk here, i haven't had a problem with it

I would say there's a pretty open feel to it.

harrywang 03-31-2013 08:56 PM

There is only 2 flat benches at the oval? that kind of sucks.

Yeah vancouver gyms suck shit..no chalk available and high as fuck fees. I'm tired of golds and steve nash, they are honestly terrible gyms compared to others. I mean only 2 squat racks? Seriously?

The_Situation 03-31-2013 09:05 PM

i think sportcentral is getting better and better. i rarely have to wait for anything

kev1n9121 03-31-2013 09:28 PM

I still signed up since I'm paying $35 plus taxes, $25 for the keyfob and 3 months of free tanning (though I don't even know if I'm going to use that...). Shit and their expanding fast too...

What do you think of the gym so far? and how long is your contract?

i was there last week with brokenarrow, we had to wait for a squat rack so we decided to start with bench press. when we got to the bench press, we had to wait for that too LOL

Then after the dude finishes his set, he tells us he needs to use the barbell after he finishes using it for bench press lol.

And then had to scavenge for 2.5s and 5s because none of them were put back to their original places

but it's all good, perhaps i went in during the wrong time

2.5s and 5s are hard to find at any time. When I was doing 5x5
Squat racks and benches are alright. You usually dont have to wait TOO long. But they do need more bars

I've been going to Steve Nash in richmond

jello24 04-17-2013 05:48 PM

Anyone here go to the Club 16 gym in Surrey? Any reviews on the gym?

Currently I am going to Steve Nash Delta and at $46/month ($558 paid at the start of the term) it's really expensive especially when I'm currently saving up for a vacation to the Philippines.

Primary pro of SN for me is distance. The gym is only 3 blocks away, and is walking distance. But I'm not really sure if the 10 minute drive to Club 16 is worth the $20 per month... gas is expensive these days.

I'm not really a bodybuilder, only really going to the gym to maintain my snowboarding legs over the summer and for cardio. How is the quality of the equipment/size of crowds?

Thanks guys.

Haha you just got to know where the weights are. 2.5 and 5 are usually in the smaller free weight area.
