Thinking of going back to sport central, havent been there for half a year or so. Anyone can tell me if they ever fixed the machines or got rid of the stank?

pb.kidz 05-27-2014 01:46 AM

Anytime fitness surrey
$50/month
I can come and go whenever I want (24/7), generally empty after 11pm when I go.
Cons: it's a small gym with equipment kinda squished together

machines have been working fine for a while now, and they finally bought more barbells to fill each bench and rack. the stench... i believe it's more the people than the gym. it gets fucking packed though, i find the best times to go are around 5-6ish or late at night

$50 a month? Holy shit they jacked up the prices. I'm paying $36 a month there

JKam 05-27-2014 02:56 PM

Club 16 in Burnaby. Packed at 8-10pm and hours are shitty.

sonick 05-27-2014 03:14 PM

Is there a decent gym in south Richmond around Steveston Hwy?

320icar 05-27-2014 05:02 PM

Steveston community centre?

Yup. I used to go at the last hour every day but the gym got more and more packed. Cancelled my membership. Was paying $30+tax per month, month to month no contract for level 2 access.

Now just working out at home sadly. Kinda miss a gym environment.

badboy 06-11-2014 12:06 PM

Anybody know any gyms that are dedicated to Olympic weightlifting?

BrRsn 06-11-2014 12:19 PM

My credit card expired and sports central charged me an extra $29 for not updating my CC in time (though I got no warning) -- so I rage quit and made my own olympic style home gym by piecing it together off craigslist/kijiji :fullofwin:

Ri2 06-11-2014 12:44 PM

I go to Steve Nash with my cousins, I only pay $24/month... also have a 24/7 gym at my work (i'm allowed to bring friends for free :)).. and I'm thinking of joining Club 16 so if nobody wants to work out with me then I can go by myself since it's just down the street from me.

Now all I need is a trainer...lol ts14, where u at beast?

guurl 06-11-2014 01:36 PM

steve nash on lougheed hwy by Gilmore
paying around 28/month for level two. I paid for 16 months up front including the annual fee so that it would be cheaper.
instead of monthly payments which was like 48/month I think

vafanculo 06-28-2014 10:42 PM

Any Richmond oval reviews? In need of a new gym, and hope a slightly more expensive membership keeps the crowd down.

Reviews on gym itself?

eddoe 08-01-2014 03:59 PM

I go to steve nash brentwood and pay 26.91 after taxes for level 2 access. Had to prepay 18 months for this deal though. It's extremely busy from 4PM to 9:00PM everyday (except Friday & Saturday). There is a valet from I think 4:30 to 8:00 but they are not that useful since they only double park about 5-6 cars, so prepare to wait about 10 minutes for a spot if you are going at peak time, they have overfill lots but they are about a 8 minute walk away if you don't want to jaywalk lougheed highway.

Have been to a large number of other Steve Nash's with the pass, including the Victoria location (haven't had the chance to try any of the other sports clubs) but they are all pretty run-down and don't have any new equipment in them. There is no AC and it smells a bit.

I am guessing that is what separates level 1 and level 2 or 3. I would only buy a pass if there was a Level 2 or 3 gym nearby as the level 1 gyms' are not worth it at all.

Oshiguru 08-11-2014 04:09 PM

I used to go to the Cloverdale Rec but my leisure pass expired and they charge $81 a year now. Not expensive at all but it was a bit unexpected. I'm thinking about switching it up and heading to Steve Nash Langley, South Surrey, or Snap Fitness Cloverdale. Anyone have experiences with those two locations? How busy is it around opening?

nguyen 08-11-2014 04:24 PM

Club 16 Surrey! No problem having a great workout, I usually go between 9am - 3pm. Hate going around 7pm, place is like a damn zoo.

kkthind 08-11-2014 05:09 PM

new anytime fitness opened up in surrey near newton wave pool, prices probably cheap right now there

Recon604 08-25-2014 05:47 PM

Thinking of joining steve nash level 2. What prices you guys get?

triplexcel 08-26-2014 01:49 PM

i currently go to steve nash brentwood and i pay about $30 a month on a student plan with level 1 and 2 access and no contract.

The only steve nash that i know of that has an olympic plateform is the surrey location. I wished all the new gyms had them too.. :(

J89 08-26-2014 02:44 PM

Anytime fitness in south bby!

pros: the name speaks for itself haha, usually not busy, can do all my workouts without waiting. Very clean and maintained well.

cons: small gym, above average fee for gym plus contracted.

I'm just curious how it works with Anytime fitness.. IF you sign up in the surrey location, does it mean you can only use that location or can you go into the other ones like cloverdale, etc.
