RSF looks like a great deal at 240 bucks a year for what you get.

Araaadi 01-16-2016 10:44 AM

Went to the new Goodlife last night, I didn't like how the squat racks were angled with the wall and not lined up with the squares on the floor. Equipment wasn't bad, completely empty at 2am. I like that they have a shrug bar but it was in the personal training section.

Went to check out the new GoodLife. Made me sit around for 10-15mins and I asked to use the washroom. They said no and I left.
Do they have any platforms or just a few racks?

subordinate 01-17-2016 07:13 PM

Rsf looks good. Noticed they have a sauna from their site. How's the sauna? Clean and working?

Edit - Thanks for the goodlife tip, I'll have a look. Only need the 22/month or whatever it is.

3 racks. 2 more racks in the personal training area. I was told you could use these if there is no personal training going on.

Says who? I go around noon and they haven't said anything about no dropping weights and chalk. I was told as long as you wipe down the bars its fine.

They're also working on getting platforms for all the racks. Major complaints from day 1 was that the floors were too spongy.

Anyone is allowed in the PT section as long as a PT is not training a client. Especially at 2am.

I go to RSF on Monday and Wednesdays to play ball. I have to say they've made changes lately and is moving in the right direction.

reza 01-20-2016 06:13 PM

origins parkour on main&kingsway above the bingo hall

2 cages, 2 half racks, 2 platforms, no treadmills/machines, tons of athletic equipment, awesome staff

a bit on the pricey side but access to the gymnastic floor&parkour area included

dumbells only go to 60lb but plenty of barbells and olympic plates

great hours, never busy, no distractions, awesome staff

Yep, I've been using chalk and semi dropping weights as well since I joined. As long as you aren't dropping weights from above your head or something.
Glad to hear they're working on getting platforms. Hope that goes through.
I'm quite glad they have 29mm barbells here since I've been trying to work on my hookgrip for deadlift. It's no eleiko barbell but it'll do

Jer3 01-28-2016 06:50 PM

has anyone checked out the gym in richmond city centre community centre?

604778 01-28-2016 08:51 PM

Been going to Anytime Fitness in Olympic Village. They just recently added more space for free weights, elliptical and bikes. They've been getting new equipment frequently also. Busy times are between 4-10pm.

Kaolinite 02-16-2016 09:41 PM

I've always wanted to drop in and check this place out. Would you know off hand their drop-in policy and rate?

TIA
Rich

I use to go there all the time. The price per month is quite pricy like average about $50-$60 a month for drop in. This includes usage of the gym floor and the weight area.

Their price is better if you prepay 3 -6 months ahead. They have limited one year pass that you could buy if they still offer it. It about $500+ tax.

Unless you're into trying Parlour or a powerlifter the equipment is quite limited to squat racks and deadlift platforms.

Drop in price is very pricy it is like $15

BTW what's the parking like at Goodlife?

I'm still torn between switching to Goodlifr at metro or the Anytime on Knight.

JSilver 03-06-2016 08:48 PM

Free parking 2 hours in underground.

I've stayed for more than 2 hours many times with no trouble though if that matters.

willystyle 03-11-2016 07:32 PM

Thinking of signing up at GoodLife on Willingdon for the $20 deal. Mainly for strength training, have a few questions that I'd like to ask.

1. How's everyone's experience so far? Pros and Cons?
2. How busy is it during rush hour? 5-8pm?
3. How's the parking? Is it a bitch like Steve Nash Lougheed?
4. What's the maximum weight of the dumbells?
5. How many Squat Racks? Busy?
6. So it's $20/month, what other hidden fees are there?
7. Last, but not least, how's the "scene"? Irrelevant, but curious. ;)

Disappointed! I went for an orientation yesterday, and they don't have that $20/month plan anymore. It's now $36/month. I'm thinking of cancelling.

Verdasco 03-15-2016 07:45 AM

im enrolled for stevenash and goodlife

goodlife parking i had never a problem finding on p2

dumbbells were 120? i think i forgot, never use them that high

scene is full of young teenage kids with few asian hotties here and there. few juicers obviously but mostly skinny faggots

$20 per month was before march 1st... i called in on march 1st and was super disappointed

willystyle 03-15-2016 07:58 AM

^ Yup, think I might just cheap out and go for Club 16 Lonsdale instead, even though it may not be 24 hours. I wouldn't even consider Steve Nash Brentwood, it's a shit storm over there with the parking.
