If you're going to community centres, go to Mt. Pleasant or Trout Lake.
Mt. Pleasant is by far the best community centre I've been to. 3 power racks including one olympic platform. Two benches, 1 incline...and a shitload of adjustable benches.
Dumbbells only go up to 80's like all CCs :okay:

Yeah haha Mt. Pleasant's huge, and Trout Lake has brand-spankin' new equipment
but Killarney's only like a 15-min walk from my house so it's real convenient :alonehappy:

You gotta pay some $500 upfront first for them to give you that flat fee for life.

I was able to talk them into $19/mn with no fee... sorta. I had to pay $40/mn for my first year, then $19/mn onwards.

my school's ghetto-ass gym from September to May 'cause it's free :buttrock:
then Killarney Community Centre from June to August during summer break. Like $34/month, but if you buy the 3m, 6m, or 1y pass you get discounts
not as big as other community centres, but definitely much better equipment than Renfrew & Kensington. Barely ever crowded :eek5:

By far one of the worst cc gyms.

ARC. Only thing my U Pass is good for.

The_Situation 02-06-2012 04:21 PM

What is arc? Youre upass gets u in for free?

kwy 02-06-2012 04:28 PM

Yeah, Abbotsford Rec Center. Got overhauled a few years ago, now it has a decent weight room and a nice indoor track. U Pass also gets me into MRC, the other city run gym in Abbotsford.

Without U Pass its something like 30/month.

Does anyone go to either the Kerrisdale or Dunbar fitness centres in their respective community centres?

JSilver 02-07-2012 01:48 PM

MaximumCore Studio

Cost: $39.19 (Free fitness classes, private gym, cafe, towel service)

Pros:
Good people
Never busy
Good food in their Cafe
Private gym (Play your own music, etc)
Multiple floors with different equipment

Cons:
No squat rack platform (Good for Deadlifts, cleans, etc)
110lbs max for dumbbells
A little tight, small gym but minimal traffic makes up for it

P90X at home and at the work gym. Very little set up needed, no waiting or travelling & cheap! :). Win-win.
