Golds gym Burnaby. Actually kinda peaceful there at 5 AM |
Bumping this again since my SNFW membership is up for renewal. They're offering $349+tax for 12 months + 3 free (so 15 months total) Pretty decent deal but wanted to see if there's anything better out there (either price wise of facilities wise) |
Bump! I've been struggling to get an in on the "After 8pm" membership at Good Life Fitness specifically Metrotown. Essentially the membership allows you to go to the gym only between the hours of 8pm and 6am or something. It was previously advertised at the gym but not anymore. - I've called they said they think it doesn't exist. - I've also gone in person and they said they were not sure. - I have a friend of a friend who works there and confirms it exists but he's too noob and doesn't have access to sign people up for it, I guess it requires special approval To top it off I do have 3 friends who have the membership, 1 of them is paying $18/month while the other 2 are paying $12/month. So the question is anyone have an in to get the deal? |

My brother signed up a dirt cheap deal when they first opened. He said there's no point going unless you go either during mid morning or after 11pm. All the weights and machines are constantly being taking up by bros exchanging sets between the group so you never get a turn. Only thing they're good for is cardio. I'd give Anytime Fitness a shot. 24/7 gym and generally not as busy. There's one that's in North Burnaby by Boundary/Hastings and that place is rarely busy after 11pm. There's significantly more Anytime Fitness around compared to Good Life, but you'll be paying at least $40. |

This... I signed up when they first opened. I remember that promo, they had fantastic promotions. Im paying 17/month. Not sure if I'll ever give that up. I do remember that promo after 8pm as well, and have never seen it since (I go at least once a week). As CH28 said, they are too busy now. Heck, it was even busy at 12:15am last night, which would be insane last year. Now it seems to be the norm. I wouldn't say all you would be doing is cardio. Some people are more than glad to let you work in between sets. If I didn't sign up for GL, I'd go back to Sports Central, they always have good deals and 24/7 too. From their facebook, it looks like they have renovated. |

Prices in the city are so much lower. I live out in the Fraser valley and average price for gym here is 45-60 a month. I got a free month trial to anytime fitness. A bit expensive but I can go late at night on the weekend. Which stops my weekend drinking. |

Currently I do 1 year passes at Vancouver Community Centers at an avg of $17/month. I only really get to go to the gym Mon-Fri and even then usually only 3 of those 5 days I can go due to work + being a dad and having to be with the kid etc. I figure if I could have got in in the deal at $12 or heck even $18 I can utilize going 1-2 times every weekend after midnight, I'm a total night owl and working out at night is preferred. I'm also not interested in giving up my Vancouver CC Membership completely and going for a Anytime Fitness etc because based on the combination of where I work and live etc the Van CC locations work the best for me. Ah wells :okay: |
Steve Nash is such a fucking joke, avoid at all costs. Back when the Lougheed mall location opened the wife and I got a pretty good deal but i still didn’t like it that much because I found their personal trainers were pretty meh and they always wanted to ducking upsell you on things. Wife and I moved so we cancelled our memberships and then when she was looking for a new gym ended up going back to Steve Nash but the Brentwood Lougheed location. The first few times they tried to assure her the parking wouldn’t be a problem (they have fucking valet during the day cause their lot is so small) and if it’s too busy you have to park across Lougheed by that dog park, which adds like 20 minutes to your round trip to the gym.. Needless to say it wasn’t working for her and they hve their “money back guarantee” for the first month, she paid like $2200 for a 2 year membership and a whole bunch of personal training, after the parking issues and her trainer cancelling twice in the first 2 weeks she said fuck it and tried to get her money back They went over the “15 day” allotment for the refund first saying it was 15 business days, then they went over the 15 business days. After that they refunded her more than they should have because they didn’t factor in the personal training she had already done and now trying to chase that money back? Like fuck off you clowns. |

- 7 min drive from both work and home - shit ton of free parking in the lot or street no matter day and time - a wide range of avg joes being around Commercial Drive, yea eye candy is lacking but i'm there to work and the avg joes are pretty down to earth people ranging from diff ages and ethnic background - decent size gym for a CC and has pretty much everything you need with equipment being middle ground, not the newest but not the oldest - business, Brit can get busy like any other gym but Brit's "busy" is far less busy than a Steve Nash or Trout Lake where you're spending half the time just waiting for shit. Also the hours for a CC are fantastic. |
You guys don't know how good you got it... I pay $73 a month (3 months at a time) and the gym is tiny. Breakaway Fitness in Yellowknife. The other alternative is the Racquetclub at $120'ish a month. |

I used to go to the Steve Nash in Richmond (not the Sports Club). Parking was migraine inducing but I made it work. Now I visit the Lougheed Mall location. Basically, I've been paying $16 / month for almost 2 years now. I have no complaints. Then again, I just go there to work out. If the machines are functioning, I'm good. I pay no attention to their constant bombardment of ads and offers. Seriously though, any physical gains had at Steve Nash will be negated by mental loss from talking with their staff. |
Can you still transfer a steve nash membership to another person? |

Back in the day I always pictured Golds as a place where all the juicers went but their facility looks nice. Do they ever offer any membership deals? |

I definitely recommend it though, yes there are tons of us juice heads there, but honestly we're all nice, each gym has a great community. That's what you need in a gym, a place where people intend to stay, and take their training seriously. It's gyms like Steve Nash where there's no community, people come and go, sign up, and never return. I'm paying $21 bi-weekly at my location, no membership fees or contract. What's cool too is that you can go to other Gold's Gym locations if you're a member (not unlimited) at other locations though. I've been to the Langley location a number of times, it's a great gym, top notch equipment. |
