^ what he says.

trix4kids 07-13-2012 07:44 PM

I go the Revs, there's a fitness centre next to the bowling. 35$ a month, equipments quite old, but, its the closest option.

instantneedles 07-13-2012 08:00 PM

^yeah i used to workout there. there's a ton of equipment there, but some of it is pretty sketchy, i recall doing my flat bench on one of the benches, and once i kicked my 100 lb weights up, i almost flipped over cus the bench was so unstable LOL. Its not bad though, a ton of open space since there aren't alot of people going there...

Ehh I've been there for a few years. I use to praise it just as much...

But honestly, all the equipment they have, I've never used.

When it comes down to a gym I just expect solid dumbbells, enough plates, squat rack, bench and good people.

For the amount you pay at Golds I don't think its worth it.

You can get the same results at any gym. Save some coin.

mikemhg 07-15-2012 12:26 PM

Gold's isn't that expensive though, I pay $44 a month, that's $9 more than ghetto Revs. That's one meal @ McDicks a month lol.

apl_lb 07-15-2012 10:20 PM

$41/month after tax @Richmond Oval

Pros:
- Ice for those who play hockey/skate
- Big facility = don't feel crowded
- Lots of staff
- More machines then I'll ever need
- Lots of girls
- Tons more that I'm missing...

Cons:
- Parking and drop in fees are expensive if you wanna drag a friend out

exactly. Some guys at steve nash and goodlife pay $60/month, which, in comparison to $44 is much much better. I actually know a guy at golds that pays monthly, and isn't tied to a yearly contract, so really reconsider

Marioo1991 07-16-2012 10:45 AM

I was at Golds from 2008-2011, paid $21+tax every 2 weeks.. worked out to $50.96/mth

FW gave me my old rate of $22+tax/mth so I thought I would switch and save some coin.

I called Golds to see if they would hook me up if i switched back, but they actually raised the rate to 24+tax biweekly. $58.24/mth

Looks like i'm staying with FW

Naw man they have new rates. I went back a month or so ago.

If I froze my account which I was paying around $36/month then I would have came back but I didn't think at the time to freeze my account.

I only left due to the traffic at that gym at the time I had to go.

I'm happy at my gym. Nothing wrong with Golds, I'm just saying it isn't THE best gym in the lower mainland.

94supra 07-21-2012 03:49 PM

instantneedles 07-21-2012 10:46 PM

if you want a cheap gym, don't expect good quality. If you want good quality, don't expect a cheap gym. reciprocal... tell me any of you been to a gym with the whole package?

hey how old are you?? i payed 60 for mine :(

rb 07-21-2012 11:16 PM

I'm cheap. Coquitlam Aquatic Centre toonie hour. From 9:30pm til 10:30pm, drop a toonie in a bucket and you can use the gym or go for a swim. Pretty new machines and weights. Its only an hour but if you focus, you can squeeze in a good workout.

XplicitLuder 07-21-2012 11:20 PM

still think after this summer im switching to FW lol done paying 62$ a month at goodlife

Club16 is the cheaperst
It's somewhere $17 per month and $22 with tanning

Too bad they have sign up fee $70 but it use to be with out this when I signed up

instantneedles 07-22-2012 07:01 AM

^ok yeah, but club16 is a shit gym... (overcrowded cus the gym's pretty small for the amount of ppl that workout there) i literally walked in there, and walked back out after running my eyes across the gym. If you're talking about the one at highgate... which i'm pretty sure is the only one in burnaby... But I guess for the price you pay there, you can't really go wrong... Just gotta find the optimal times when its not busy

Well yes its overcrowded sometimes , but you can't beat the price ... I go there in the morning or 1-1,5 before closing ...the only thing I don't like that it closes at 5 pm on saturday and Sunday :(

94supra 07-22-2012 10:52 AM

Lol your talking to a guy who's actually been at Golds for over two years. As mentioned Club 16 is par with Golds in my opinion. Newer equipment as well. But as you also mentioned it does get packed but same with Golds.

Like I said I'm not downing the gym, just saying you won't be using every single machine in that gym for the amount you pay. And two squat racks? Come on lol. Oval has 6.

Simple gym is good enough for me.

dvdjels 07-28-2012 11:06 AM

sportscentral

25/month

pros:
-24/7 - i work 16 hour days 6 days a week so I end up in the gym at like 2 am in the morning lol
-large facility

cons:
-might just be me, but a large percentage of equipment has some sort of defect
-for sugh a large facilty, i thought ventilation wouldn't be an issue..i was wrong
-i heard there are large crowds during the day ( I never go so I wouldn't know)

all in all, unless you need a 24/7 gym, it'd be safer to look elsewhere lol

BinsentoW 07-30-2012 05:26 PM

Starting Sport central tonight. Got a 2 month pass off some groupbuy website a while back and my other gym just expired.

docomo 07-30-2012 05:41 PM

Richmond Oval

something people missed is the rock climbing wall.

$27 tax in/month 1 year contract
bonus promotion for June was + 3 months extra (15 months for 12 month price)
and another 25% off for telus staff members.:fullofwin:
