i think the front end will take some getting use to. in a couple months, people are going to start falling for it like with most new car designs lol

Rarely does a completley redesigned car come out with everyone in approval of the design changes. It usually takes some getting used to. I can honestly say I like this front end and my current 2012 front end equally since this one has grown on me.
also, in regards to the transmission, my 6MT has been flawless so far. the majority of the people who go on forums go on there to complain. very rarely will someone make a thread about how well their car has been performing or whatever. You need to take everything you see with a grain of salt. With that said, the new 6mt has apparently addressed some of the problems the original was having.

I like it, looks way meaner then the previous gen. But that middle piece in the front end.. Why is everyone copying front end look with that? I would only buy it in black as it hides the front problems pretty good imo.

i've noticed that hyundai is stepping in a direction to make all their cars have a similar front end - much like acura and mitsubishi did. ie the shield on all acura cars nowadays, and the similarly shaped headlights on the evo, lancer and even their suv's
here's what i mean
2012 veloster
2013 sonata
2012 elantra
and finally the 2013 gc
it's a step in a different direction. whether it's the right direction, time will tell. but with this step, there'll be no question that a car is a hyundai - because all modern hyundai's will look similar
i suspect a lot of companies will be making aftermarket front bumpers for the 2013 because of (seemingly) unanimous response of dislike for the new front end - can't wait to see some of them. a lot of people disliked the fangs on the 370z when it first came out, and a lot of companies set out to make front bumpers not long after the car was released. with that being said, the fangs grew on a lot of people quickly. the weird grill on the genesis might be the same. not for me though. especially when i look at my own front end

I get compliments and questions very constantly and people are very curious and find it very appealing. There will be no doubt as time passes that people will immediately associate the 2013 with the rest of the Hyundai lineup which is somewhat disappointing. But at the end of the day that kind of stuff doesn't really matter for the true auto enthusiast if it turns out to be all it's cracked up to be

Canadian pricing. I took this off from gencoupe.com forums.
Trim levels and pricing are as such
2013 Gen Coupe base 2.0T 6 speed manual $24,899-->$26,499 (+$1600)
2013 Gen Coupe Base 2.0T 8 Speed auto $26,399-->28,299 (+$1900)
2013 Gen Coupe 2.0T 6 speed premium Package $27,899-->29,899 (+$2000)
2013 Gen Coupe 2.0T 8 speed auto premium package $29,399-->31,699 (+$2300)
2013 Gen coupe 2.0T 6 speed manual R Spec NEW-->28,799
2013 Gen coupe 3.8 GT 6 speed manual $36,499-->36,999 (+$500)
2013 Gen Coupe 3.8GT 8 speed auto $38,299-->38,799 (+$500)
not sure what trim differences to post, list is too long, so I will post what I deem important. If you guys have any specific question, ask and I will post them
front windshield wiper de-icer is standard across the trims. Automatic climate control, tilt+telescopic steering wheel is all standard
2.0T base and premium will come with 18 inch alloy wheels + high performance all season tires whereas 2.0T R Spec and 3.8 will come standard with 19 inch alloy+high performance summer compound tires.
Heated seats only available on premium package and 3.8 just like before.
Nav is finally an option like the US, and Navigation, leather and sunroof will be on the 2.0T premium and the 3.8 versions along with the infinity sound system.
brembo brakes will be on the 2.0 R spec and the 3.8 as standard equipment.
I might be wrong but it seems like the 2.0R spec will get leather trim seats but it says seath in my internal spec sheet. 2.0R spec and 3.8 will get R spec calibrated suspension. Strut bar and limited slip rear differential on 2.oT r spec and 3.8 too.
accoustic film glass, led mirror turn indicators , push button start, auto dimming rear view mirror with homelink and compass, LED day time running lights, HID autolevelling lights standard on 3.8 versions only.
These are available for pre-orders already, so you can pre-order one and be the first one to be driving them when they arrive 8-16 weeks from now

I would lean more towards getting the genesis just because it can fit more people a lot more comfortably than the frs, and is more luxurious making it somewhat a better dd

I'm very curious about the pro's and con's of an 8 speed automatic. I know some expensive luxury cars have it but you don't see it in more affordable cars. Is this a good thing?

also comparing the frs to the genesis isn't necessarily the best thing to do. yes they're both sports cars, and yes they're both rwd and 2door coupes, but that's pretty much where their similarities end. one has turbo, one is n/a. one is designed to be a pure sports car, the other is a bit of a sports car/dd mixup. one is a go kart, the other is..kinda large. with that being said though, if there's 2 cars on the current market to compare, it's those two

This is especially apparent on the Sonata, not as bad on other models. |

Pro is it saves gas.. con is it is heavier and pretty much only available only as replacement part only.
The part comes from the Genesis sedan. It makes more sense on large displacement engines which have a wider power and torque band. The gas saving potential decreases when the engine gets smaller / less powerful. Quote:

Your Sonata picture is for the hybrid which have more cooling / heating for the battery component, not to mention the generator. Quote:

^Yes I know that's the hybrid. I borrowed the picture that was posted from above. I don't recall seeing the whale-shark gaping mouths on other hybrids though, so while their may be a functional component to the Sonata Hybrid's mouth, a significant component of that styling is with Hyundai wanting a 'familiar face' through their lineup.
