When they removed my stock muffler and put on the new one, the mechanic (flipino dude - sorry for lack of better term) threw my stock muffler on the ground. He threw it from his chest level. Didn't make a big dent, I think just scratches. But the follow up question he asked was amazing. He said: "do you still want this [stock muffler]? or garbage?" :suspicious::concentrate::seriously: |

What's the rough/approx cost of a full exhaust job locally? assuming I supply and material such as muffler and piping. It wouldn't be nothing too crazy just a few cuts and welds required to make it fit hood. It would just run straight to the downpipe from the turbo. I was interested in getting one of the race mufflers over at burnsstainless.com along with some piping... |
You should see a fabricator and not an exhaust shop. The exhaust shop wants to do under car stuff and not fiddly stuff. |
Muffler Man sounds like a good place but would anyone recommend them for a catback exhaust build? Would they use mandrel bent tubes, MIG/TIG welders, etc.? I'm considering using them. |
They use mig welders. They do not normally use mandrel bends unless you take them some. I have used them many many times for cat backs, repairs etc. What car is this? There might be something that is mandrel bent for a good price. |
Guys, for a VW downpipe job (adding resonator, welding a bit of pipe to the end of it to match up to the stock catback) can I see a regular exhaust shop? Or should I do a more specialist (Euro or VW, I was thinking Blitzkrieg) shop just to be safe? I know VW's can be really weird when it comes to these things. I would need them to take out my stock downpipe which is on right now, and put on the new downpipe which is missing a mid pipe and add on to the new pipe. |
Blitzkreig is fine. There is probably a part already made for what you want to do. |
I was at muffler man just a couple of weeks ago, long story short my flex pipes got torn apart and I needed to replace them (dual exhaust). Got charged $280 to cut the old flex pipes out, fit in new flex pipe and re-weld everything. I believe they charged me around 78 dollars per flex pipe (needed 2) and the rest were labour/taxes. Felt like it was a bit expensive but I have nothing negative to say about their services, especially the guy who worked on my car. Really knew his stuff, took his time and made sure that he did a proper job. just my 2cents. |
garage5 did my over axle. i think in total i paid 350. 200 for muffler piping+new flanges+labour not bad all in all. would have been cheaper if i would have got a generic muffler rather than a vibrant model good work too, wayne knows how to weld. |
Can anyone recommend a muffler shop? I need a muffler welded onto my exhaust to pass out of prov. Inspection. It is a 2007 Mazdaspeed 3. Somewhere in Richmond please Thanks |
muffler man 7590 kingsway |
Thanks~ Can you give me an idea approximately how much it would cost? $200? $100? |
you have to go there and they will tell you |
re-jo, did you figure out what exhaust you have? |
2 Attachment(s) So it does look like the previous owner just replaced 1 of the 2 resonators/mufflers? with a straight pipe... But the muffler by the rear does say Mazda on it. |
Muffler man almost fucked up my exhaust 10/10 would not recommend. Maybe it was only the guy working on my car. I went in to get my resonator deleted and to weld a pipe in its place. The man was going to chop off my resonator after the flanges. If i didn't stop him there would of been no way for me to take off my after market axle back if i were to decide to go back to stock or to sell etc. Its also got 2 different quotes from there as well, first time calling=80 but due to exams i decided to hold off any work done, called in a month later and got quoted 70?? not complaining about that though:toot: |
