Sweet, gonna flip a few iPads and keep one for myself (well, primarily for my parents).
Sold my galaxy tab 10.1 awhile ago. Not sure why the fuck I bought it in the first place...decent tablet but UI sucked and lags even after flashing a custom ROM.
Played around with my bro's iPad 2 for about two weeks and I would definitely prefer an iPad based on my (and my parents') usage. Personally, UI responsiveness is a HUGE deal and I can't stand laggy UIs. For Android products, I'll stick to phones only for the time being.
Also, do we really need to have condescending 'apple fanboys' comments in an iPad thread?

^ that's theoretically only a day late from the Friday launch.
Couriers do not usually make residential deliveries on weekend.

i dunno when i play around with my moms ipad2 i find it fairly unresponsive at times and i dont get it since it doesnt multitask... maybe i was expecting something spectacular due to all the praise ppl give it but after some use im thinking "wtf is wrong with ppl... its just like any other os/device"

The ipad is artificially 'smooth' since it has a whole thread dedicated to scrolling and effects. But as soon as you try to multitask with it, or try doing something quickly (like you would do with work) it turns into a clunky POS.

^ Nope. Most likely it'll be a dual core A15 with Macroscalar. And it should perform better than a quad core anyway.
There are some iPad benchmarks leaking out, but nothing official so comparisons are going to be difficult until reviewers get their hands on them Friday. The processor should post similar numbers since it's clocked the same as the iPad 2. However, there appears to be 1GB RAM in this version. The GPU will be the one to watch.

We've just confirmed that although the new iPad has incredibly fast download and upload speeds over LTE, FaceTime video chat still won't work directly on the 4G network. As you can see in the positively vexing screenshot above, attempting to initiate a FaceTime call over LTE fails out with a message exhorting you to connect to a Wi-Fi network.

iPad 1 was slow, iPad 2 and obviously the new iPad are quite snappy.

iPad 1 was slow, iPad 2 and obviously the new iPad are quite snappy. | Like switching back and forth between apps. Every time I try to be productive with it, it ends up being frustrating. For instance I was helping someone proofread a presentation, so I was switching between the pdf file and the email. Every time I switched to the pdf, it would have to load the whole file over again. So that's like 5 seconds of lag for every app switch. Same thing happened to me while trying to switch between a stopwatch app and data entry.
The extra ram will help for sure. This stuff would have been literally impossible with the first iPad. The second can do it, but not productively. The third might be "better" due to finally having enough memory, but the fact is that the os is not intended for productivity, it's made to goof around with $1 apps. Posted via RS Mobile |

^ Just tried that with my 4S with a 300 page technical PDF (graphically intensive) and e-mail and my switch times are about 0.5 seconds. Posted via RS Mobile |
