Thanks! The bike sat in a collector's living room for 20+ years! :D

No class today?
Hm ... not too sure yet. I'm looking at: Honda CBR 600 f2/f3, Yamaha FZR 250/400. Worried about getting older/grey bikes though. I see a few right now but none of them are replying to my emails. What's up with that? :suspicious:

bcrdukes 06-28-2012 06:41 PM

I would suggest against getting grey market bikes. When/if you need parts and/or service - you are screwed.

Yea. That's one thing I was worried about. I asked the sellers about this and they said it's pretty easy to find non-cosmetic parts. That being said, are CBR600 f2/f3s grey bikes?

Nope. The CBR600 F2/F3/F4s are North American. Just keep in mind they run off carbs, not electronic fuel injection.

Yea :( It's unfortunate. I think only the newer bikes are fuel-injected, no? My scooter was fuel-injected too. Are carbs really, really bad or are they tolerable?

Raid3n 06-28-2012 09:13 PM

most of the sport bikes didn't switch to EFI until early 2000's. carbs are a little less efficient, and a little more finicky. they don't adapt to major environment changes as well as EFI. (like altitude or humidity)

alicelc 06-28-2012 09:29 PM

Ah, I see. I wonder why the newer Ninja 250s didn't change to EFI in the early 2000s. The CBR250 is EFI and in the lower insurance bracket. I'd pick that over the ninja 250 but there aren't that many available on craigslist.

Right now, my dream bike is the 2012 Suzuki SV650s white :D

PiuYi 06-28-2012 10:01 PM

i got my eye on the Smokin' Joe

just wondering, is there a diff between regular CBR600 F2/F3's and Smokin' Joe editions? or are they all the same but diff fairings

alicelc 06-28-2012 10:05 PM

OH! Smokin Joe! I was looking at one too but it got sold :( I'm also looking at a 1993 CBR 600 F2 but the engine was swapped. I wonder if the original one died or something. Should I stay away from that bike? It's so nice looking. I actually prefer older looking bikes ...

Sorry, I don't know how to answer the second half of your question. Fellow bikers may be more helpful than me :D

PiuYi 06-28-2012 11:02 PM

yeah they're less common but so coooool :damn:

I'm not sure if it's a "group test" though. I'm guessing it's one examiner bringing one rider out at a time. If the examiner is observing three riders,
he/she might miss a mistake or something but I agree that group tests sound easier :P

You probably won't be able to book a road test that soon after at this time of year. Remember, there are still the other students from classes before you that are booking their road tests.

OMG just got back like 30 mins ago, did first ride in the lot and it was a blast. learnt soooo much from just one day god dam. i also might be reconsidering my 600cc choice, lets see how well i improve by the end of the course. excited for part 2 tomo

i would recommend this course to everyone who wants to get into riding, best 800$ ive ever spent

So, anyone here do the road rides this weekend?

peazs 07-02-2012 10:02 PM

I just registered! :)

For the night classes, are you supposed to bring your own food/snack or do they have breaks in between?

Congrats!
You're encouraged to bring your own snacks.
They'll send you a PDF with all the information. You'll probably receive it tomorrow morning :)

peazs 07-03-2012 12:32 AM

Awesome! I'm taking night classes so I guess some snacks or a sandwich of some sort unless there's something close by... lol

bcrdukes 07-03-2012 02:25 AM

There isn't a lot of choice in the area without having to go far, given the lack of time you will have. I highly suggest you bring a snack or pack your dinner given that you are taking evening classes.

gdoh 07-03-2012 05:19 AM

yea bring you own food the breaks are only 5 - 10 mins

peazs 07-03-2012 10:47 AM

Ok, thanks all.

areyez 07-03-2012 04:19 PM

how many classes are there?and how long are they?

All times are GMT -8. The time now is 07:40 PM.
