And this is at 5:18am EST, where the majority of RFD users are.

I just ordered the Asus MeMo 7" tablet as well. $86 all-in.

Gh0stRider 12-20-2014 01:25 AM

i placed my orders. i'll see if i get a cancellation email tmw morning.

InvisibleSoul 12-20-2014 11:16 AM

I won't care much if my two orders get cancelled. Not surprisingly, some people on RFD went nuts. Tons bought between 5-10 of the $100 gift cards. At least one person claimed to have purchased $2000.

Gh0stRider 12-20-2014 12:13 PM

didn't get emails, but when i check my order

Yep, all gift card orders have been cancelled. The ones for products haven't been cancelled... yet.

MG1 12-21-2014 09:56 AM

Any other good deals on gift cards?

I missed the Marks one.

Got Subway 25 and get 6 inch sandwich deal.
Don't think McD's has a promo this year

Shades 12-21-2014 02:04 PM

I'm not sure if this is the right thread to ask but anyone know any good deals on monitors?

Actually, McDonald's does. I think they started it pretty late this year though. They are giving a free certificate for a large sandwich with the purchase of a $20 gift card.

Other gift card offers here: http://www.revscene.net/forums/69966...d-bonuses.html

What was the reason for cancelling? Price error?

I remember in 2010, LEGO had a 25% off sale on a few high-ticket items on their website. But instead of marking them down by 25% off, the person had put them on 75% off!

Instead of cancelling all of the orders, they actually honoured the price, but put a limit of 2 of each discounted set per person. They sold the extra stock that they recovered by limiting orders at the proper sale price.

That is the righteous way of doing business.

Because the fine print said excluding gift cards.

I don't think a company should be liable for a mistake that someone made especially when it will hurt their bottom line. I mean, we all made mistakes and it is only human to do so. Could you imagine losing your job for that one mistake that really hurt no one except for some butthurt RFD deal hunter?

Yeah, they cancelled all the gift card orders because the promotion was never supposed to be live.

This is their official statement:

Quote:

To our valued customers,

For a period of time on Dec 20th, 2014, BestBuy.ca displayed a $25 online credit with purchase offer in error on product information pages and during the checkout process. Please be advised that this promotion is not valid, as previously indicated. The error has been corrected and the incorrect promotion has been removed.
I'll have to say your Lego example is actually quite different though.

For one, because it's Lego selling their own products, the margin should be very high, so even at 75% off, they may not have been losing money on the sale. For Best Buy, even though it was only 25% off, it was applied even for gift cards, which is more or less equivalent to money. Many of the products Best Buy sells have low margins to begin with, but for certain items that are fairly fixed in price (like iPads, video game consoles, etc), they would essentially be giving 25% off the lowest price of those products, which means they would probably be losing money on those items.

BestBuy actually already did more than they needed to here. They actually honoured all of the product purchases with the $25 off, even though the promo was not supposed to be live at all.

They just cancelled all the orders for gift cards.

No, there actually wasn't really any fine print at all, because the promo was put live erroneously. The only place this promo showed was on the product pages. There was no dedicated page for the promo with the fine print.

But I agree with your sentiment that companies should be protected for honest mistakes as well.

Most of the McDs I phoned didn't even know about it and the location on Willingdon ran out of vouchers.

I saw it at the drive thru of Kingsway and Victoria a few days ago... that's the only reason I knew about it.

Really seems like it was a last minute decision by McD's this year, for whatever reason.

It could be that some are franchise while others are corporate.

I got a few today at the Willingdon location. They almost sounded like they didn't want to honour it. They make good stocking stuffers, while I get the free Big Macs, LOL.

twitchyzero 12-23-2014 09:20 PM

i got a 25 off 100 off code from best buy's recent fiasco
what a pleasant surprise for them to honour an error like this...check your emails

v_tec 01-11-2015 08:25 PM

I was looking through the coupons that came with the local paper and I had to do a double take. That's a good deal. Right up there with the Whopper Junior Meal deal for $3.49 or something like that.

It's fast food coupon season right now. Gotta compete with McD's, I guess.

FerrariEnzo 01-11-2015 11:19 PM

many ppl on RFD said BK nuggets are crap.. lol

twitchyzero 01-12-2015 12:21 AM

6o4__boi 01-12-2015 12:02 PM

i just had the bk nuggets over the weekend...i was a bit skeptical at first cus of the low price. There was no wrecking of the toilet afterwards so its legit.

tasted fine to me, more or less the same as mcds, i wasn't expecting much tbh so i was pleasantly surprised.
