I just picked up about $230 worth of clothes at Paul's Boutique at Guildford Mall in Surrey for $60. All their sale items are now an extra 50% off. Not that it's older people styles, but I got a really nice soft shell snowboard jacket that was $160 for only $40 as well as a pair of $65 shoes for only $15.

Selection is beginning to dwindle, but there are still some deals to be had.

MG1 03-10-2012 06:12 PM

If anyone is looking for a 160GB PS3, Shoppers is having a sale. $249.99, plus you get a $50.00 Shoppers gift card. It is also Spend Your Points event, so $170.00 worth of points = $200.00 worth of stuff.

Holy cow.......... too bad I don't need a PS3.

The deal is on today and tomorrow. I knew about it on Wednesday, but forgot to post it. So solly....... Kensington location has over 5 left as of now. Actually, he said a lot, but said over 5 to cover his ass??. I guess these consoles aren't popular.

twitchyzero 03-10-2012 06:14 PM

which shoppers location has the biggest electronics 'dept' around town?
I always wanted to get a shoppers points card...but their electronics selection is so limited (if any at all) and their products always seem pricey

Not really that pricey. Sometimes they have pretty good sales on cameras and game consoles.

As for size...... it does not matter. They are all about the same. I would say the one on Commercial Drive is one of the worst, along with the old one on Hastings in Italianvile (Gilmore-ish area).

hirevtuner 03-10-2012 07:32 PM

Today if you spend $50 or more at Shopper's, you get a $10 gift card for next time, not that crazy of a deal but still kinda worth it. :)

Are you able to show the Safeway coupon on a smartphone? Or does it have to be printed?

I can't be the only one who takes a GENEROUS helping of napkins when getting stuff at places like Timmies or Subway for home, right?

:alone:

:alone:

Not for home, but use the "extra" serviettes to clean my messes when cleaning airbrushes and regular brushes. I use paper bags from fast food places for my modelling, too. I tape the bag to the edge of workbench. I throw any rags or napkins soaked in thinner into the bag. The paper bag absorbs any excess thinner or cleaner nicely.

When going through Drive Thru's, I ask for extra straws. I use them to decant paint from spray paint cans. McD's straws are the perfect size when cut in half. Best way to decant Tamiya spray paint.

Could you elaborate on this a little? I'm not sure what you mean when you say "decant paint".

Decant is when you extract paint from a spray can. I just put one end of the straw right up to the nozzle of the can and place the other end into a bottle. The spray is minimized as it hits the sides of the straw. The paint simply flows and drips into the bottle.

Spraying from can is OK, but airbrushing is way better. If I use paint from factory bottled paint, I have to thin it out for airbrush use. If I use paint from spray can, it is good to go.

The only problem with decanting is, the paint is very volatile. You have to be very, very careful. If not, you can have the paint explode on you. If you plan to use regular hand held brush, you must allow the paint to acclimatize itself to the tempurature of the surroundings and release the energy that is in the paint (paint from a can is freezing cold). I wait about an hour for the paint to settle down. Some say 24 hours. In any case, you need to make sure you don't put the cap on the bottle as the paint will build up pressure like a shaken bottle of pop. Here's better explanation.

Decanting Spray Paint

When airbrushing, I wait only a few minutes to fill the reservoir of my top loading airbrush. I'm very careful not to touch the paint and put only small amounts in at first. You will see paint fizz and bubble. Put anything warm in the paint and it will fizz and foam over like root beer.

All the you tube videos show people taping pipettes or straws onto the spray can nozzle. I don't bother as I do this inside my paint booth. The overspray is minimal. The McD's straws fit right over the diameter of nib on the spray can's nozzle. I wear a good mask when airbrushing or decanting.

I hope this helps............ others can add to this if they wish. Everyone has a different way of decanting paint.

will also cross post in the hobby shops thread

I went to two Safeways in a row and no problem. I don't think they even keep track.

Anyway, I was just at Freybe's factory outlet on Hastings near Victoria Drive. I got some end cuts at $4.95/kilo. They have weekly specials there that are pretty good, but the rest of the stuff is, meh. Anything under $10.00 / kilo is a good price.

Gotta make sure to read the labels, 'cause some of that stuff is so high in cholesterol....... although, cannot say no to a good landjaeger.

JHatta 03-15-2012 02:23 PM

Thanks for the egg coupon!
