Enjoying a 50¢ meat pie. Safeway had these meat pies on sale for $1 each. Made in Canada. Three flavours. Chicken, Turkey, and Beef. The offer included with the meat pies was 50 Scene points. Essentially 50 cents each. I was skeptical about them, but they are really good. Maybe because they're so cheap, lol. Only drawback is they cannot be microwaved. Oven only. So, today, I threw some frozen battered cod fish, Kirkland Chicken Bakes, and the meat pies onto a cookie sheet and cooked them in the natural gas convection oven. Everything turned out well. I wrapped the Chicken Bakes in foil. Anyway, cooking for myself, so this makes for easy dinner. BTW, sale ended on Wednesday. I was looking for them at my local Safeway, but they didn't have any, so I went to the location on Kingsway near Joyce. They didn't have any, so I got a rain check including the scene point offer. I got the ones I cooked from my local Safeway a day later when they restocked (within sale dates). These pies aren't as good or as big as the Marie Callendar's Chicken Pot Pie, but at 50 cents, who cares? The plus for the Marie Calendar's is they are microwaveable. The rain check doesn't have a limit. Damn. Safeway's been getting more competitive with their prices as of late. |
heads up Burger King app has been having daily deals this week. Yesterday was 4 mozz sticks for $1, today was 8 nuggs for $2. |
Is there blog/thread on when Superstore No Tax is / estimated to be? Expected today to be no-tax day but its not. |
Anything good for boxing sale? Seems like nothing too crazy that was worth buying. |
Esso gas station on Burrard and Davie has been $1.55 for the past month. I topped up this morning after seeing the price up to $1.78 on my way to work Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
Costco chickens were $9.99. wtheck. |
I've let RS frugal shoppers down. Did not report some awesomee deals. Been too busy, plus nobody seems to be posting much. Saturday, Superstore on Grandview had breakfast sausage on sale for basically 88¢/lb. They were short dated. Two days left. They had a shitload. Someone must have made an error. too much stock or they found the product in the back of the cooler. $1.00 a package and the weight on each package was 500+ grams. I bought ten and froze them when I got home. Safeway had pork belly for $2.88/lb. Cryovac/frozen. Lots of decent prices because of CNY. People complain about high food prices, but keep your eyes out for deals and it pays off. Of course, if you ain't got no freezer, you're out of luck. Anyway............... this thread was dying a slow death.............. |
Last weekend I found BOGO frozen chicken at Ladner Save on Foods - it worked out to be $15.50 ish for 2 which I thought was a decent deal. Seasoned the chicken and it came out perfect by air frying it inside my Ninja Speed - better than Costco rotisserie chicken imo. I also picked up some Cavendish breakfast hash browns for 88 cents by combining the No Frills sale at $2.88 and a $2 coupon I found on RedFlagDeals. |
It’s possible I’ve posted this before but if you’re ever shopping for something specific, the Flipp app is great for that. Wanted bacon for some mushroom cheeseburgers today and found it BOGO @ Save-On, for example. Any time I’m craving or need something I don’t have on hand, it’s my go to. |
With inflation I have also been paying more attention to flyers for my weekly meal planning. This week there were heads of organic cauliflower at t&t for 3.97 each (not per lb) Last week t&t also had air chilled chicken thighs on sale for like $3/lb. |
Was at Willingdon Costco today. Saw a swarm of Asians buying up boxes of stuff. Pineapple cakes. Box of 16. Made in Taiwan. $9.99 each. I have no freaking idea what they are but one guy said they were half price of what they were selling for last week. People were phoning their friends. I bought one just to try it. Must be some CNY thing. What I was happy about today was the Nuknuk slippers for $19.99. My favourite slippers. Normal price is $29.99. Saw them one time at $34.99. |

I went at 7:00 am. FOMO set in, lol. Went home right away to drop off the haul and went directly to the border. Got back into, "Our Home on Native Land," by noon. Went to Semiahmoo Save-On-Foods. Lots of items left. Save On was totally prepared for this iconic sale. Nothing like Safeway. Safeway never have sale items in stock. Often, more than not, they don't even receive the sale items. Always sold out. They give rain checks that lasts for a month, so I forgive them. $40.00 to get free pickup sounds good. thanks............ |
My order ended up getting cancelled....really not happy with how they handled this. I should've just went in this morning before work and stocked up. |
Several items got cancelled off of my order, also at Semiahmoo. Did MG1 get my raspberries?? |
When I went to the Madison Save-On-Foods, the raspberries were going quick. They had a shitload when I went in. First person, btw. By the time I got my other things, because raspberries weren't high up on the list, they were gone. Limit of two. I also went to the location in New West (Columbia Street - my daughter lives in that area). There were a few fruit trays (Blueberries, Blackberries, and Raspberries) still left. Those pot pies. Two of the locations only had the hot kind. Madison had cold ones that were shrink wrapped. The pound of ground beef for $1.49 I was sure they would run out. There were lots left at all three locations. Regular ground beef, so not something people would fight over. BTW, I leave for Bellingham early to avoid traffic and long lines at the border. With the Nexus card, there's no need to get to the border early. If $1.49 Day is going to be a weekly thing, I'll just go at 7:00 am. I have a feeling it is going to be more than just today. They had so much advertising, t-shirts, and banners to be just a one day thing. The $1.49 jingle.............. damn. |
I just really wanted my black forest ham, the other stuff (steamed veggies) were just fillers. |
