Turn left on Howe from Dunsmuir. Take the ramp down, get your ticket, turn right and take any one of the spots along the way. Park near any of the elevator areas. Take elevator to Food Court (one floor up). Take the stairs if you want. Takes a grand total of three minutes, unless you're some slow ass old man. Know exactly where the shop you want to go and get out ASAP. Scan ticket at one of the scanning devices next to the elevator. That way, you just take the express gates. Don't even have to scan, it detects your ticket somehow and you're out of there. I love one way streets.

EDIT: I went to the elevators further down today(Friday). The ones that have no floor buttons on the inside ('cause you chose your floor beforehand). There are no ticket scanners there, so I had to go to the booth with an attendant. Got through with no issues. Attendant was about to hand me the cc reader, then realized, no charge.

The city finally put up no stopping signs in the left lane just south of the Howe St ramp entrance. For years, that was a free parking spot I'd use on weekends. Never weekdays or during rush hours though. I guess someone finally narc'd or bylaw noticed.

NVM, just checked it again........ prices look updated now. Fokkers!

$5.00 for 30 minutes is actually not bad for the area.

EvoFire 01-27-2025 09:09 AM

It's a bit of a trek to PC, but if you park under the courts, it's $3/h on the weekends iirc. I haven't been in a LONG time so I don't know if it's still that cheap. It's usually not busy and it's a best kept secret thing. If you drive all the way into the end of the parking lot, you come out of the UBC area/church thing behind the art gallery, out a side door.

Yep this is my go-to parking lot DT as well.

BIC_BAWS 01-27-2025 12:12 PM

My go-to parking lot as well, courtesy of A-RTD LOL.

My only concern about that lot is that it can be a bit sketchy - in the times that I've parked there, so I wouldn't park there for long.

If $5/30mins is cheap, I paid $25 to park at AWS, The Post for 12 hours LOL. It feels a lot safer for break-ins etc.

Not sure if it’s at all Sungiven locations, but the one near the Burnaby Golf Course / squint Lake has 2 hot item over rice for $5.00 off. $7.99. I’m not into it and don’t even know if it’s any good. Just an FYI.

MG1 02-01-2025 10:38 AM

Okay, the food isn’t worth it, but my god…… the Portuguese Egg Tart!!! So so good. Hands down the best I’ve had. Period.

RevYouUp 02-18-2025 09:19 PM

MG1 02-18-2025 11:01 PM

Does anyone have a hack to get the last 5-10 ml of detergent out of those jugs? Bothers the hell out of me. I turn it upside down and still, they design in such a way that even if you let it sit upside down for hours, it still will not flow to the cap.

SSM_DC5 03-06-2025 09:08 PM

Cut it open?

Was at my local Safeway. They have a deal for chicken from their deli. A thigh and drumstick for $2.00 Not the greatest chicken, but a buck a piece? The thigh I got was huge! The last time I saw thighs that big was in high school - this Italian chick (that wasn't the only thing big with her). Anyway, they also have a box of wedgie fries for $2.00. Supposed to be medium, but the Kensington Square Safeway gives you the large box. Then, I ask if I can get onion rings instead for that price. Yup, not advertised, but it was $2.00 for the large box. Now, the onion rings are not that great. Not the A&W crispy kind.

Anyway, regular price for the chicken is $4.49 and the onion rings $7.29.

After I order the onion rings, everybody else behind me in the line gets the onion rings, jbol.

Even the workers there said they'd get it for lunch. They weren't sure if the onion rings would be that price until they put mine through.

Oh, the deal is only on Tuesdays from 11:00 to 5:00. I was told they usually run out by 4:00. The deal has no end as far as I know. A month I would say. Burnaby North Secondary students would be all over it, Im sure.

whitev70r 04-01-2025 05:54 PM

Just so happens to be at a Safeway today, read this, checked out the deli and lo and behold, Toonie Tuesday. Got me some and indeed, it was decent.

spoon.ek9 04-01-2025 06:49 PM

I'd pop those onion rings into an air fryer and be happy as a pig in shit

last month i cancelled all my streaming services except for amazon and im not going to renew those until i exhaust everything (we're interested in) from the amazon library. then ill do the same for amazon and renew only one streaming service until that service is exhausted and repeat. i find myself spending more time looking for something to watch than watching.

i also ditched spotify individual for a student plan since i dont listen to audiobooks.

Hey, you still haven't changed your username. Don't bring Poland, Ukraine, and your grandmother into this!

I downgraded my Netflix from the full 4K package ($23.99) to the basic ad supported version plan ($7.99) and other than the ads I can't tell the difference in service. The saved money however may go to a Paramount+ sub so I can watch the Star Trek shows.
