If time is an issue, i think rpro has courts open till 1am on fri and weekends or something, I forgot, it's been so long. |
rpro 9pm-1am fridays for sure. dunno about the rest |
Thanks for offering to set something up! I had little time all week to even surf the web. I got 2 PMs about badminton but it's been pretty quiet so far. Cuz of tax season I can't do weekdays much and I prefer late night fridays, Saturday's after 5 or anytime Sunday's. Oh Richmond or van would be best. |
Yea, just post if you are in or not and what days you are free and at what time. |
I'm down. though I will be really rusty. do a draft plan or something I guess. I will be avaible next friday |
Id be down after next wednesday... I got a few pms about this so far as well.. Id be down for saturdays.. |
$4.50 Richmond Pro 10pm-1am drop in on Saturdays. Usually it's not that busy after 1030ish. |
^ I'd probably play half sleeping :P |
I usually get there at around 1030. It would be fun to have new people play a few games. |
do they do racquet rentals? |
i play on some other days but i might be interested in as well if something is set up! |
You can go to "Tads" for a racquet rentals. $5 for like 3 days I believe. |
i get invites from this big group of players every thursday. How it works is there's a guy in charge of booking the courts and buying the birds, and he sets up a google doc and emails it to the pool of players and they can rsvp if theyre interested in attending that week's session. Every player has an account and you give money to the guy so he debits / credits your account accordingly. Usually 10+ people show so we book 2 courts and play for about 2 hours. Skill range is from intermediate to mostly advanced. Depending on the time / location of the RS baddy meet, i might partake :woot2: |

i would say in the middle between intermediate and advanced. i used to play a lot in high school and i had coaching on the side as well but i'm a shell of my former self so don't get intimidated :) |
Anyone beginners feel free to pm your number and I will try sort somethings out.. no promises though! |
Anyone else interested? If you guys don't mind, please also PM me your # unless you don't mind posting it here. I'll make up the list and where to meet as soon as we have at least 8 people. Thanks, |
i'd like to watch this badminton meet lol....provided its fri sat sun at rpro late night drop in i'll def be there to watch hahhahaha |
Please confirm if you are in, sorry I don't want to check everyone's name, but I believe majority of the people on this list will be going. I'm planning to aim for someone in Richmond, either ClearOne/Two or RPRO. This is the list of people, saying yes will confirm your position so I can book courts. Also include the preferred day as well. Thanks, |
bump rs badminton meet anyone?? |
anyone know where I can play drop in baddy on friday night after 6pm? |
cloverdale rec =p |
Bump form the dead but try Vancouver Badminton. I think Every Tue, Thrus and Sun there is a meetup group call BBT Vancouver who plays there. try to search for meetup and find BBT Vancouver. I been to their Badminton meetup once, didn't play though coz I am like the most beginner in the beginner class...... (Just chilling with a friend there lol). You get to meet people and have fun although some people are really good so yea..... Like the OP I want to play badminton but I am so bad that I don't want to play against any pros lol. Just want to play with someone my level and learn..... Oh well someday I will try. |
If you know someone that can buy for you from Taiwan its 50% of the price you would pay here..... QUOTE=TRDood;7869468]Bump... Anyone know where to find deals on badminton shoes or indoor court shoes? Tad's on Granville sells the Yonex SHB 102 for $110, same shoe at Sportschek for $140. http://www.canuckbadminton.com/store...2mx_mb_lrg.jpg I tried ebay and amazon, it works out to be more expensive than $110. I thought getting it shipped within US would be cheaper, but no luck.[/QUOTE] |
Im interested in finding a group of noobs to play. Also same experience when I used to play 15 years ago going to BCIT, Collingwood, Bonsor, Pinetree and being kicked off for not being good enough. If I can get 6 committed players and can rent a private court at Smash/ClearOne for 2 hours play for about $6 each. Alternately you guys can get a group of "bad" players together and rent a court..its your best bet. Quote:
