Need help, asap! Hey so i got my car lowered yesterday and everything was fine but on my way to wings it started to screech. Anyone that could help trouble shoot or could come to wings on North road would be a life saver. Please text me at 778 838 6536. Ps. Will reward with some wings. Posted via RS Mobile |
Care to clarify where the screech came from? Few ideas: did you do alignment? On lowered springs, shocks, coilovers? Poor installation? Did you hit a pothole where you bottomed out? All wheel nuts torqued down correctly, car vibrates? Keep us posted. |
screech is comming from drivers front wheel, i think. Its a 2011 civic professionally lowered on buddy clubs n+ i had only minor rubbing when turning and bumps, didnt hit any potholes, screeching just randomly started. Wheel seems to be on tight. Posted via RS Mobile |
if it was a scrapping noise, or knocking.. that would make more sense.. but a screech??? hard to imagine. is it a consistent screech? low/high tone? more details pls |
very high screech, only happens when in motion maybe the rim is scratching something? Posted via RS Mobile |
Does it happen when you just give the car some RPMs at stops? Or only when in motion? |
Did u try messing with the fenderliner as you stated in your build thread? Maybe its loose? |
Maybe just maybe theres something touching the brake disc? high pitch will generally metal on metal contact, do you smell burning? |
Rock stuck behind the brake rotor shield? |
Might have accidently bent the dust shield on the rotor? |
fender liner is in place. How do i check the rotor? Is it safe to drive on? Posted via RS Mobile |
cehck your dust shield if you bent it maybe... |
If you are near home, limp home slowly. If not, use your emergency jack and jack up the vehicle and spin the wheel by hand to see if it still screeches. Remove the wheel and just visually look to see if there were any signs of rubbing. |
The Car in question: http://i101.photobucket.com/albums/m...9/DSC01249.jpg http://i101.photobucket.com/albums/m...9/DSC01252.jpg You can kind of see the rotor in this pic http://i101.photobucket.com/albums/m...9/DSC01257.jpg |
See that metal dust sheild behind the rotor? Check if it's touching the rotor. If it is, just push it away a bit. |
Possibly a very tiny pebble between the brake pad and brake disk? Happen to me on my EP3 |
Good points. Once I got my wheels painted and 2 nuts were not torqued accordingly, it screeched when I was braking. Check also into dust shield, fender lining ( but that shouldnt be the problem ), or even the caliper and rotor arent secure causing slight vibration. |
Definitely check the dust shield. I had the same problem before. Just crank the wheel to the right/left and wiggle the dust shield back and forth. Drive around and repeat if necessary. |
I really hope it's something behind the dust shield....wings meet on Araaadi! |
Took off the wheel and cleaned behind the dust shield, screeching seemed to stop. Thanks a lot. Ill update when i drive again later. Posted via RS Mobile |
Hope everything turns out okay! Really nice car you have there btw! :D What wheels are those? |
if there is still a screech another thing is to check the brake pad tabs, sometimes they are not put in place fully and can pop out i had that issue and when ever i took a turn i could hear the screeching noise |
If there are weights on the rims from balancing the tires, try removing them for the time being. I had a similar problem before. |
So after cleaning the dust shield, the screeching is 100% gone. I have the worst luck with pebbles, first one was stuck in my rotor like 3 months ago. 2 months ago I had similar screeching for like a block and it just went away. |
