Shaw expander 1TB HDD - will it work on a PC?

My Shaw box recently crapped out so my 1TB drive is just sitting here. Could this work on my PC? I can't just try because it requires a SATA to SATA cable. Before i go out and buy a SATA to USB cable i'd like to know if anyone has done this and gotten it to work.

I'll try that, but for long term wouldn't the SATA to usb cable be safer?
