After reading that, I'm still confused. Are we going to get a dumb downed dual core, or the quad core version?

terkan 06-16-2012 11:28 PM

i'm using the one x as my personal phone and the s3 as my work phone right now. i think i still like my one x more. spec wise it's similar but i like my one x super lcd 2 screen more. but the s3 is really comfy to hold because it's so fun =\ grrr.. and we were always getting the dual core in north america.. so i dunno where you get the idea we are getting a quad core.... there's nothing out there really that needs the LTE... but at the same time there's nothing out there that really needs the quad core... so honestly i think the dual core with 2gb of ram is better than the quad core with 1gb of ram..

LTE with dual core and 2gb of ram vs quad core no LTE with 1gb ram

we are getting LTE

asian_XL 06-17-2012 02:12 AM

unless you are getting the korean LTE version, which is going to be quad core + LTE chip + 2gb ram.

unless you need to load a 30 minutes HD porn in seconds. My current plan is said to be up to 21Mbps, never able to use it all.

It's true, you may not need LTE, but browsing with LTE is THAT much faster. Loads everything in half the time. Your advertised 21Mbps probably only gets around 3-8Mbps dowload speed on average, but with LTE I get on average 20-30Mbps. Even faster than my wifi which is only 15-20Mbps! I've even gotten up to 55Mbps along Broadway. You gotta try it for yourself to understand!

not sure if it was noted but the canadian carrier S3s are getting the 2yr 50gb dropbox access (americans aren't cuz the carriers opted out of it)

yeah it's much more likely to hit 1GB RAM bottleneck before dual-core bottleneck

can't believe they haven't figured out how to incorporate LTE with the exynos chip yet

Simplex123 06-17-2012 03:38 PM

They have. The Exynos 4412. It's in a new Korean version.

Time constraints. Release asap then add in support later. The same issue with Tegra3

terkan 06-17-2012 07:47 PM

duh why release the s3 with quad LTE when they can release the S3x with quad and LTE and ppl will pay again for it!

asian_XL 06-17-2012 08:10 PM

The current standalone LTE chip eats up so much battery life and slower.
and yeah, 2gb ram will be much better than, you can overclock the cpu, but can't stretch the ram.

unit 06-18-2012 01:01 PM

how do you preorder it?
i called and they said online only

terkan 06-18-2012 08:39 PM

preorder from where?

DanHibiki 06-18-2012 08:57 PM

I dunno much about Android, but when you load a custom launcher, can u select only some stuff like the lockscreen?

I LOVE the lockscreen and look of the sharp feel ux

But the lack of homescreens is a turn off

iam_dan 06-18-2012 09:03 PM

was playing with my friend's S3.
the design is kind of funky...the screen is kind of convex ish

Anyone attending the launch party?

danny_d19 06-19-2012 11:53 AM

I just reserved a pebble blue 32 GB one through Rogers, I'm #375 on the list lulz

asian_XL 06-19-2012 04:24 PM

becareful, the back plate is extremely fragile

Edit: Samsung is nice enough to give me a new back cover to settle my anger.

terkan 06-20-2012 05:59 PM

lol i got couple of extra backplate for each color and some free cases from the samsung reps :D just curious why ppl are even bothering with the 32gb one when you can prolly buy a 64gb class 6 or 10 memory card anywhere from 50-80bux?

cecilia 06-20-2012 06:32 PM

Can I get someone impression on the quadcore version over the dual core 2gb ram?
I'm mostly video gaming oriented and want to know about multitasking the phone without It lagging or freezing on me.

Tim Budong 06-20-2012 07:04 PM

both phones are fine
the LTE dualcore is just as quick as the quadcore with the ram

Though i cant say for games side by side
i ahve seen everything but 3D gaming side by side.

Temple Run runs fine in both versions
