Im using samsungs original slim case. Uses some new injection technology that makes it super thin. Its almost like a having an invisible shield on your phone but as a case lol

for those who have the phone, is your home button and volume button a little loose??

I'm still not impressed about the battery life on this device. only get about 3.5-4 hours of display time and 10-12 hour of totally battery. everythinis off (except LTE). GPS is off. 25%brightness. sync off.(I also clear background apps every hour or so). also using juice defender

some poeple on the XDA forums get about 20hours with 3-5hrs of screen time. which surprises me.

I just bought the phone. Seems complicated to use ( coming from a blackberry user), but I love it so far.

How much data do you guys use on average? I don't know if I should get more

Task managers are useless in android. There are no benefits from clearing out background apps.

my galaxy nexus gets about that much battery life (3-4 hours of display) on stock rom. I am surprised you get about the same life as mine considering the S3 has bigger battery capacity despite similar screen size/resolution...i guess the LTE really does eat up battery?

ime2006 07-04-2012 09:55 PM

Still trying to make decision......LTE or Tegra 3 ???

Any suggestion ???

Are you constantly on 3G? Or do you switch to wifi when you're at home?

I will try to use my Wifi more often when I'm at home to see if this improves my battery life.

edit: also Wifi disconnecting constantly is a known issue.

twitchyzero 07-04-2012 11:02 PM

i'm on 3G 24/7

PornMaster 07-04-2012 11:25 PM

Apparently Rogers Samsung Galaxy S3's can work with Fido micro-sim, no need to unlock.. Can anyone else confirm this?

jackmeister 07-05-2012 08:24 AM

Yes. It seems Rogers Samsung Galaxy S3 do not need to be unlocked to use it on Fido according to this thread from RFD.

i migrated over from a blackberry as well. i currently have a 500MB LTE plan, but rogers gave me 3 months of unlimited data so that i can guestimate my usage.

my phone's data counter started 6 days ago and i'm already around 86mb. it's still to early to tell, but i may just be able to get under 500mb. not only that, but my phone may be measuring differently from rogers.

talk to your provider to see if they can cut you a deal first since this is your first android phone, i presume.

iEatClams 07-05-2012 07:11 PM

Just sold my other phone and picked up this one.
Best phone I've used yet in my life, last few phones were Iphone 4s, Razr and Motorola Droid. Definitely not going back to Iphone that's for sure.

Ch28 07-05-2012 07:30 PM

Picked up one today and I can't believe how much I've missed Swype!

terkan 07-05-2012 07:41 PM

I've had my contract and my SII for less than a year, and now this thing comes out; tried it the other day and I instantly fell in love with it.. Asked Bell for upgrade eligibility and I won't be able to until 2014.. Other option is to buy it out for a $400 early upgrade fee, on top of the phone's price for a typical 3-year plan ($160), as well as another activation fee ($35) :fuuuuu:
My phone feels ancient and now a feeling of upgrading is always in the back of my head, but I know it totally isn't worth it yet :okay:

PornMaster 07-05-2012 08:06 PM

I had 5 hours with the phone and already used 100mb

this is with downloading about 10 apps
fb twitter rs instagram etc etc

3klipze 07-05-2012 08:40 PM

nvm, solved the problem.

sell your s2 on craigslist for anywhere between 300-350.. and then upgrade.. it'll cost you $300 lol but better than $600
